Is it possible the Cards could get left out of the Playoffs and the Orange Bowl even if we win out? Playoff teams, Alabama is in. What if Ohio State beats Michigan and Penn State wins out. Then the winner of the Penn State-Wisconsin championship game is likely in. They probably will not put in Ohio State and leave out the Big Ten Champ. So that would be two Big Ten teams.

Then suppose Clemson loses the ACC championship to whoever then the Tigers are out with two losses. The fourth Playoff spot is not guaranteed to Louisville and could still get filled by the PAC12 or Big12 champ, Washington, Oklahoma or West Virginia depending on what direction the committee decides to go in. Then the Orange Bowl would get the ACC champ who would be whoever beats Clemson. If the Orange Bowl gets to decide, they could also take Clemson over the Cards. Then Louisville is looking at a lesser bowl like the Russell Athletic. This sounds far fetched, but it is still a nightmare that hasn't been talked about.

In that scenario, it is very likely that we would still get an at-large bid to a NY6 bowl, I'm thinking probably the Cotton, probably matched up with the G5 rep.

Why would the orange bowl select 2 ACC teams at all? If VA Tech or UNC wins the ACC championship game, then it would be them and whoever the loser of the big 10 championship game would be more than likely.

The Orange Bowl would take the ACC #1 if it fails to make playoffs. It would get the ACC Champ if it beats Clemson. It would likely face the Big Ten team that doesn't go to the playoffs or the Rose. If a Big Ten goes to the Orange, the ACC would get a Citrus Bowl spot. Also the Cotton Bowl at large could get an ACC team.

When I posted above I didn't mean the Orange Bowl would take two ACC teams. I meant it would get the ACC #1. If the Orange Bowl gets to choose the ACC #1 team it wants, it might pick Clemson over Louisville or UNC or Va Tech. I assume the OB must take the ACC champ.

Worse case scenario if Cards win out is Cotton Bowl against Group of Five rep. If some team other than Clemson or Louisville wins ACC Champ game they would go to Orange. Cards would certainly jump Clemson with 2 losses and be highest rated team in rankings not in playoffs or with auto berth in another New Years six bowl. Cards would get at large berth in Cotton

I still have my sleeping bag which I used twice at the Liberty Bowl. Beal Street and BBQ are good too!
