Hurt sat next to Carey on the bench. Attitude looked good. Strong high 5s and smiling.
I’d be thrilled to land hurt... 2 big guys comin in (hurt and Carey) that can hit shots.... that pick and roll game could be deadly!
Is Carey hurt? Started the game but haven’t seen him back in and Hurts looks ok but when some mentioned he could play the three don’t see the lateral quickness to keep a faster sf in front of him attacking. I like him as a stretch four.

He tries to do too much sometimes he’s a great player though... Scottie Lewis seems like he wants to go 1 on 5 sometimes
Love Moore’s game. Great intangibles. Just seems like one of the best multi-year guys in this class.
Anthony would be a problem in Roy’s system - especially if he figured out how to tighten up his shot selection. I always thought they did better with the Kendall Marshall type of player though. If Anthony went there, I could see him single-handedly win & lose games for them.

Take all this with a grain of salt bc of the type of game it was. However, at times, both teams played really hard.
Wiseman is a force in the paint. He can really move on the defensive end.
Cole Anthony looked good. Sucks he’s gonna be in that ugly pastel blue next year. He’s not afraid to take a shot, but a lot of that might have been bc it was a high school all star game.
Hurt looked good. He’s got a good stroke. He got beat a couple times on defense, but he definitely has starter potential. But, again, it was an all star game so who knows.
Moore looked good. Very athletic. He can guard 1-5 if the opposing 5 is 6’8” or shorter. He made some good passes as well. He was always looking around when he had the ball.
Carey only played a few minutes. He had an excellent demeanor on the bench. I don’t think we need to worry sbout him trasferring just yet.
Cockburn was an ***. In warmups he was messing with Guo and it didn’t look playful or friendly. When Guo was practicing FTs, Cockburn came up and slapped the ball out of his hands and took it. Then he would stand right behind him when he was shooting and wait for Guo to shoot and Cockburn would shoot at the same time trying to hit his ball. At the end he ran in front of him for a rebound and quickly tossed the ball behind himself and it hit Guo in the head. Guo shot him a dirty look. At no point did either player smile at each other or lead on like they were joking. It came across as Cockburn just being a dick (pun intended). All of this happened in probably 3 mins. I would not want Cockburn on Duke if that’s how he acts.

I don't want cockburn in any circumstance. Sounds painful. That said, cockburn to hurt would make for amusing commentary.
Winslow is my favorite non Zion player of the last 5 years, so I like the Moore comparisons.
Hurt seems to know where to be on the floor at the right times. Title teams have great awareness/feel at all 5 positions. I hope we can get there soon.
Cam and RJ’s individual talent and effort were outstanding, but they had no real feel for team defense and higher forms of offense. How many times did Cam steamroll a defender instead of pulling up or Euro stepping around?
The best college players have all 3: athleticism (or at least insanely skilled), inner drive and awareness. Having two out of three makes you a role player, maybe even an elite role player. We had 2 guys last year with all three: Zion and Tre. The rest of our team were varying degrees of role players. IMO RJ just doesn’t have a good feel for the game except finishing on the break or forcing his way to the rim.

I think he had been dealing with injuries. He didn’t play in the Burger Boys game so I’m assuming he was just limiting his playing time in the hoops summit. Duke players and injuries... surprise right.
