College sports has to move to a performance/effort model. Where your pay is dependant on effort as judges by committee and staff, and your stats demonstrate that you're team-centered. Or just have colleges stop NIL altogether and have recruits sign papers saying that they understand that the college isn't affiliated with paying players.

Sadly we are probably the 1% of programs having this issue right now. Seems to work fine for other programs. The elite players make more money and everyone seems to be on board.

Not that I dont agree with the premise. I do. But, this worked last year just fine. We just made awful choices in recruits, maybe because these were the last resorts.

I don't like NIL any more than the next guy but other teams are using NIL and have players that still play hard and give effort. In this instance, it seems more like an "us" problem unfortunately.

It’s not an NIL issue, it’s a character issue. Have to sign players with work ethic and good character. Do that and set the proper expectations and the effort and performance won’t be a issue.

This is a mainly a mental issue.

Yes we don't have talent, but we are not even competitive. That's a mental issue and its all on pope

Most keep saying Pope can't evaluate talent, can he also not evaluate character? I would find that shocking, as he seems to be all about character. How did that get past him?
