You couldn’t give me a Tesla… piece of junk cars. Always in need of service and only Tesla can service them. They give you Uber credits while you wait, guess they don’t want you driving a better rental car.

How fun will it be for Allar to pull up to Lasch in a brand new gift Tesla while some walk-on arrives in his 1979 Toyota Corolla? That will be great for the locker room.
Bro DA has the locker room stocked with scones and Starbucks. Subsequently, he owns the place.

Few moving parts, and largely all repairs done are software. But okay , have at it. We will know Tesla has hit your mainstream when they're seen up on blocks outside a double wide.

Read somewhere some football players at other schools getting Corvettes, even a Lamborghini. Will try to find. Some of these other schools laugh at Tesla cars.

Would be it be any different than Allar showing up with Kaylee Hartung and the 6th string DT showing up with Mowins???

You think 18-22 yrs olds care about that? Yes, if they can have a Vet or sports car over a Tesla, most of them would select the fancy option. Does not mean it is the smart option.

I went over this with you last week. It's a one year lease on a Tesla sedan with advertising logos from the company that is lending the cars. There's literally no tax implications. Please make it stop!

my company provides vehicles including all costs to our sales team with logo on the side = same thing. we are required to add imputed income on their W2, and they need to keep a mileage record. the ones that are agents (not employees) get 1099. our avg person is getting about $10k per year added to their income for taxes. those are the IRS rules, and this is no different. the fact that is a lease is not relevant.

explain how a person can provide value (i.e. NIL or any services) and receive value tax free? our exec team who are getting $100k vehicles are getting hit for about $25k imputed income per year, so will be very interested in knowing how to legally evade that tax.

Are these players employed by Inch and Company? Who determines the worth?

I'm going to start 1099ing my 18 year old daughter for using our leased vehicle.

They don't have to be employed by the company. Company sends them a 1099, probably for the lease payments made during the year.
And a booster pays the players agent the $500 to take care of it, right? My point is, the world isn't coming to an end for deals like this.

If other reporting is true, top players are getting $700,000+ to commit to some schools. That's when serious tax money comes into play. But again, their agents should handle these things.

🙆‍♂️

Today, college athletes are allowed to cash in on their name, image, and likeness in a variety of ways. From sponsorship deals to paid social media posts. We dove into the numbers to see how much players earn and determine the highest paid college athletes.

Top NIL Earners

We analyzed the top 15 ranking college football stars (according to ESPN). This analysis shows how much each player could be earning for the current season. Below is a breakdown of the top 5 earning players.

Bryce Young

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young is the highest NIL earner this year. Young has a total valuation of $3.2 million in NIL deals. Bryce Young saw his value rise in 2022 after winning the coveted Heisman Trophy the previous season.

CJ Stroud

CJ Stroud came off a strong 2021-22 season, leading the Ohio State Buckeyes to a Rose Bowl title. Stroud also broke the OSU record for most passing yards in a single game. This has propelled him to a $2.5 million NIL valuation.

Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams transferred to the USC Trojans, following his coach Lincoln Riley. Williams is already on pace to drastically outperform his freshman stats from last season. His potential after a strong freshman year generated $2.4 million in NIL revenue. Williams looks to continue to capitalize on Southern California’s hot sponsorship market.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Smith-Njigba propelled himself into the spotlight after winning Offensive MVP in the 2022 Rose Bowl. Smith-Njigba’s electric play on the field has earned him a variety of NIL deals reportedly worth $1.7 million.

Bijan Robinson

Bijan Robinson is one of the most highly touted running backs heading into the season. Robinson rushed for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns last season as a sophomore. The hype around Robinson in 2022-23 has earned him a NIL valuation of $1.7 million.

Here’s how the rest of the top 15 players net out:

Richest College Football Programs by NIL Valuations

Looking at America’s top ten college football teams from the AP Top 25, we can reveal that the number one school for player NIL valuation (based on average earnings across the team) is Texas A&M. Aggies players earn an average of $85,000 in off-field partnerships, sponsorships, and brand deals. Here’s a look at the rest of the top 5 schools:

  • University of Michigan – Wolverines players can earn an average of $65,000
  • Oklahoma University – Sooners starts are averaging $64,000 in NIL deal valuation
  • University of Georgia – The defending College Football Playoff Champions can boast an average of $56,000 in personal brand deals for its players
  • University of Alabama – Despite having some of the biggest single NIL deals on its roster, Alabama comes in at fifth overall for earnings average at $52,000

I was talking to Bruce Clark one day at Laurel Glen apartments where his girlfriend (and I) lived. He was sitting in a canary yellow Trans Am with a massive fur coat on. She was a totally stacked blonde who hit a lot of the branches of the ugly tree on her way down. A real butter face.

That would've been winter of 1979.

Is this NIL thing really all that new/different?

None of these deals are earth-shattering, but they do generate taxable income to the players, regardless of who does the paper work (and charges them for it).

They are not good cars. Better electric options are on the market.
