Here they come. They’ve been waiting so long for this loss.

I’ll bet anyone here that if Nebraska wins its last two games at home they still make the tournament.
Big words. How much and how will I collect from you?

NIT is a great season at Nebraska. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good ol' fashion melt down...

120 years of basketball. No regular season titles since 1950, one tournament championship, 7 NCAA tournament appearances (zero wins). That is your program. Really want to fire a 20 win coach with a tournament appearance, on the bubble for another, and currently sitting in 4th place in conference? Doesn't seem like the standards fit the history for some.

I hope your right about the tourney. And yes Miles has turned this team around nicely but definitely doesn’t deserve a contract extension yet. This nice little run bought him another year as our coach. That’s all it did. Next year everyone’s back besides Gill & Taylor. With the nucleus still back, Miles will show really what he’s made of.

Miles is finally starting to build something I like where the team is going. We are young and the frosh talent is good.

Really bummed out over this loss. Though we would get this one. Pedo State looks more and more like a loss as each game goes on. They have a big one tonight so we will know more about them vs. Purdue. I hope we can bounce make and show some mental toughness. GBR

Let's come to an agreement and set up a PayPal or Venmo exchange. I have nothing to hide from. $100? More? Give me an amount you want to wager.
Smart man cashing in on an idiots overreaction. I would like to get in on this action but I am not a gambling man. Take him for more than $100 for Gods sake.

Wait for the season to conclude, then wait and see if any transfers... It's the transfers that makes me shrug my shoulders. No transfers then he's good to go.

Not unless we win at least 1, probably 2 in the conference tournament. If we go out in the quarterfinals, we're not sniffing the NCAA tournament.

I just don't think 2 wins, then a loss in NU's first game in New York, is going to get NU into the tournament. Really think they'll need that third win to get in.

That said, two wins this week still captures 4th place in the regular season conference race, which far exceeds my expectations entering the season. And while I know the conference is down, it's still good not to be watching Nebraska limp into the bottom-feeder bunny round of the conference tourney.

23 is the magic number....or at least that’s where we switch from “probably not in” to “probably in”. 24 is a mortal lock but that seems a bridge too far...

You are betting$100 that winning the rest of our regular season games and no tournament wins gets us into the dance? If so, you're on. But it's a push if any other scenario??

Some of you guys just can't enjoy the season unless we have our best season ever. This is a good start. It all depends on who comes back next season. As for this season, we had difficulty matching up with Illinois. It is what it is. It was like Illinois made a concerted effort to shut down Palmer. Palmer never got in a rhythm and it hurt us when we needed him most. Roby got into foul trouble, deserved or not. Whatever you think about making/not making the tournament, it's been a fun year.

Sorry was away. HHDude was the one who said I used big words so I was initially responding to him but if you want in for a hundo, I’m in.

I think the team will win 3 but I guess the only way I cash in is if they win 2 and lose in the tourney.

Deal. Can message for PayPal names when the scenario happens.

Most teams would consider firing a coach that at best makes the NIT. Miles will probably get an extension. He has top 64 talent but can’t coach for crap.

He's no better coach than he has ever been. Kenya Hunter has set him up with some talent and it's been a nice run albeit aided by a weak schedule. Anyway, I'm thinking this team wins a couple NIT games as Palmer, Copeland and Roby (who are getting plenty old by NBA draft standards) try to make a run to NIT glory & impress NBA & foreign scouts.

Lets say no transfers of irreplaceable parts. I am more concerned about Palmer leaving for the NBA than transfers at this point. IF Copeland, Allen or Watson were to leave...well that's another story.

Let's see. Before Smith was responsible for the recruiting and wins and Kenya was a wasted chair on the bench. Now Kenya is responsible for the recruiting and Miles gets the losses....

I think sometimes people come on here and ***** after not even watching the game. Illinois had 2 literally prayer toss up 3s go in at shot clock buzzers to win. For once our 3 pt defense stunk and we couldn't make a shot to save our souls. Not to do the same old, but man some of the officiating was terrible. That last foul call on Roby where the guy jumped into his back was terrible. That killed us and probably was the single thing I would point to that cost us the game.

These fans try so hard not to get emotionally invested and as soon as they started to believe Nebraska was doing big things we lost on the road so they run around pouting and complaining about Miles.

It was a tough loss to stomach for sure. But one road loss cannot erase what has happened this year and certainly shouldn’t ruin the spirits because these next two games are still crucial.

The tough thing for me in this one were some of the really bad mental mistakes a couple of our guys made. They just looked off yesterday and Illinois shut Palmer down for the most part. Glynn's off balance runner 3 late.:( Copeland just falling asleep on D. I think something was wrong with Copeland yesterday. He just didn't look right. Rotten officiating especially late in the 2nd half killed us as well. There are no gimmies in the B1G and Illinois was on fire yesterday. I don't know what Miles could have done differently yesterday to change the outcome. Losing Roby for much of the late game on that horrible 4th foul call just killed us.

Some things make no sense. Truly the Big Ten officials should have made sure the game was at least called evenly if anything shading toward Nebraska. The conference needs teams (Neb) in the Big Dance. Nobody watching that game can hardly even say it was called evenly especially the last 10 minutes let alone leaning the Huskers way!

The non-reversal on review and then the reversal right after that made no sense. We got hosed on both calls. The 4th foul on Roby was horrible.

Quitter. This one ain't over yet and while I was deeply depressed over that one last night, I'm ready for the next one. Wished they played today.
I'm obviously being sarcastic, and you know it, as the theme of NU basketball is "next year". We've seen it in posts again and again.
In all honesty if we do win our next two I think we have a good shot of getting in, regardless of the big ten tourney. 3 wins would lock it up.
I almost wish if we had to lose it would have been to Penn State. Illinois is a bad loss. They are terrible.
But I still think we have a shot if we win these next 2.
But we have to win these next 2.
Do we want Penn State to beat Michigan? I almost think we do to help their RPI a little bit so a win against them looks better. Our Michigan win won't look any better or worse I'd imagine.

The loss to Illinois made NU’s path to the NCAA tournament exponentially more difficult.

Had NU won out in the regular season, they had a shot to make the dance regardless of what happened in the B1G tournament. Now, they absolutely MUST reach the semifinals - at least. That means they MUST defeat Michigan in the Quarterfinals. Not Rutgers, or Illinois, or Iowa....they must beat a very strong Michigan team that will remember the beating they took in Lincoln. It will also be Michigan team that would have played the day before and will already be in “game” mode. Who knows how ready NU will be their first game?

Yesterday’s loss wasn’t fatal, but NUs job just got A LOT more difficult.
