In a normal world, Duke would have had a couple more games before they met Mich State and Illinois. Really hard to get a rotation set when all they can do is scrimmage against each other. I am starting to think that K might be right and they should just pause the season.
Yea I’m starting to come around to this as well. Izzo and Michigan State boarded a plane to Charlottesville. They finally get settled in their hotel in Charlottesville only to find out the game against UVA has been postponed. Talk about infuriating, which led Izzo saying something similar to what K said, but for some reason K gets called out for being a sore loser.

I fail to see the humor in any of this. Using a laughing emoji or responding with a sarcastic "haha" doesn't really lend itself well to this situation. But, hey that's me.

This season is screwed in more than one way. Just cancel the whole season and move on. It has to be disheartening to have games cancelled, not getting to play games in front of a crowd, and ratings are terrible for tv. NBA left a sour taste in most peoples mouths with their political statements they tried to make. It’s funneled to college as well. Very little interest in hoops right now.

Well Coach K tends to say things like this AFTER a loss. Why not say this when the first game got postponed? He makes himself look like a sore loser once a year

3 cancelled games out 7 so far...may have been better to focus on conference games and get in as many as possible???

I understand the timing doesn’t look good, but he was asked a question and he gave an answer. My point is other coaches are saying similar things also.

I want the players to get the opportunity to play. But I don't want them or their families to get sick. It's quite a choice.

I don't think they can see their family right now. That was part of Bilas' and K's argument. They can't go home for the holidays because they would have to quarantine

I would absolutely be in favor of pausing the season, except we all know it will be getting worse before it gets better and they wouldn't be able to play until maybe May.

I really wouldn't have a problem canceling this season and some of these coaches with age are putting themselves in danger. I vote our losses don't count.

Just because K is the voice of college basketball and other schools hate that fact

I am actually pretty surprised we got to see any CBB this year. These cancelations in the preseason can be managed. I will say I do think the lack of preseason games really hurts teams with major roster rebuilds like Duke, Kentucky, and plenty of others. I think the cancelations are just an inconvenience in the preseason, but how on earth conferences will be able to complete schedules and crown champions is beyond me.

I'll admit I was firmly on the fence when the season started....even leaning slightly to move forward and let things play out. Well, we've done that. We knew this season would be anything but normal from a COVID perspective....but did we see this? I'm sure many did and I'm probably be slightly naive, but what's happening right now isn't working for anybody. Unfortunately, it's only going to continue....and may get worse.

I would be relieved if the season was cancelled. And it's the right thing to do. At this rate it will be imo.

Watching coaches who make over $4m per year complain is annoying. If kids are willing to play then do it.

My middle and high school teams are practicing outside in 40/50 degree weather. These guys can’t fly around in private jets.

We need to toughen up as a nation.

I think he just has genuine concern for the well being if his players and their families. You'd have a hard time convincing me that's a bad thing.

I know everyone has their own personal beliefs during all of this....that’s why whatever you believe....it’s personal and also situational. Nobody's thoughts or fears are wrong IMO in either direction.

My belief Is The overall well being of players goes way above and beyond just covid. I coach 275 athletes every single day during this pandemic....not allowing kids to play has been much worse on about a million different levels IMO.

There are literally a million things affecting the overall well being of all that are not just covid that need considerations.

I could see things getting worse come January after Christmas break and the weather getting colder. One thing is for sure...conference play might get all messed up, there is going to be cancellations left and right, there may not even be a conference tournament, there WILL be an NCAA tournament. The NCAA tournament is the biggest revenue generator for the NCAA and they missed that last year. A tournament will happen, games will be played on a Thurs/Fri afternoon when everyone likes to miss work and watch the games, commercials will be shown with NCAA coaches which generate an insane amount of money, etc.
