Well we got the answer for how the 20 game conference schedule would impact the non-conference schedule. I suppose it makes sense that with two additional games against ACC opponents we would eliminate two games against power conference teams in the non-conference schedule. I was hoping we would eliminate two games against mid-majors. Kind of sucks that we won't have that annual matchup against a power conference team in NYC/NJ right before Christmas and the annual matchup against St. John's.

So basically the only games that matter are Kansas, Michigan State, California, Georgetown or Texas. The other non-conference games are automatic W's.

Outside of Kansas and MSU, the schedule is lite, but considering what we did last year and who we return this year (plus the two additional ACC games) why beat up a young team before conference play?

Of course the haters will be in disgust, lol

I agree this kinda sucks. I loved the NYC power conference game right before the long layoff before ACC play.
Now we don’t get that pre ACC tuneup game where we usually get to see some of the teams flaws.

I thought the non-conference schedule was supposed to prepare the team for the ACC schedule. Kind of like the football team's wasted weekends against NCCU. I just don't get it.

I mean we do play two Top 5 opponents away from home (Kansas-Neutral; Michigan State-Road). I would have loved a game against another quality opponent in NYC, but with 2 more conference games added, I guess the flexibility wasn’t there.

It’s lighter than in years past, but we’re still playing two top five teams away from Cameron. Are any other programs going to be able to say the same thing?

And like has already been mentioned, being bumped up to 20 conference games takes away some flexibility.

Correct, but taking away flexibility hightens the importance of having non-conference games that will actually enhance player development rather than just producing a scoring fest.
