Norlander (CBS) picks UK to win SEC

You know something...........

I don't think this is as crazy as some make it out to be.

I don't think there's a clear cut favorite in the SEC this season. There's several teams that could win this. Right now the predicted win total for the SEC champion is 12-6.

There exists a senario where teams just beat up on one another, no one pulls away, and UK is one of those teams.

So you have to win road games to win the SEC. Protecting home court helps of course which we all know how that goes. So and so comes in and goes for 35 but walks out with a loss. Then we win 12 games in SEC and have a chance.

I mean that’s a fairly insane prediction based on results thus far
Yea I mean, I won’t say it can’t happen, but talk about being an insanely wild pick. JQ would have to be shaq like for that to happen. And Oweh or someone would need to mirror Steph curry or Tony delk at minimum. Probably just clicks.

there is absolutely nothing to this point to even suggest a top 3 finish.

That would make some on this board sad.
I think you’re missing the point. We want to WIN to Kentucky standards. That would be winning to Kentucky standards. Many are complaining because we ARENT winning to Kentucky standards and haven’t been. Backing horrible products, like around 3/4 of you do, is not indicative of being a UK guy. UK guys want to support and protect the program. You can’t protect our program if you’re okay with constant loosing and prayers to make a miracle run at the end of the year. That’s what those guys do, they just want a miracle run and support bad basketball. Most Kentucky fans are not going to endorse that and shouldn’t. What’s hard about that?

If the way you support this program were to continue, we wouldn’t be Kentucky anymore. That’s a fact. Fans don’t need to endorse Kentucky sucking year after year.

ChatanoogaWildcat doesn't get it. He didn't get it when he was shilling for Cal the last four years of Cal's tenure here either. He doesn't get that we want UK to win, and he likely never will, because he interprets critique as fans hoping the program fails, which is absurd.

Good luck trying to get through to him. Dude was A-O-K with Cal going down in the first round and he thought that we were bad fans back then too when we didn't tolerate it.

He gets sold on a "Face". He thinks the coach is the program. Instead of the coach, coaching the program.

Coaches have friends in the media. Not always going to be objective

What Seth Greenberg is to Cal, Norlander is to Mark Pope.
Yeah but at some point you are putting your credibility on the line with this stuff.

if I was a fan of a coach of a team that was terrible and I consistently picked that team to win just cause I was friends with the coach, eventually no one would listen lol

From what I have seen so far this season, I can't see them winning the SEC but hopefully we can stay healthy and they gel as a team.

If Pope wins the SEC, I’ll accept that he’s probably the coach for us. It would be some kind of miracle to correct the disaster of a season we’re having.

But I’ll believe it when I see it. I’m still thinking we’re dangerously close to at least a .500 or under season.

Norlander could also just not be putting stock into small samples. Maybe he feels like at full squad, we are way better. If you asked people here before the season began, some would have picked us to win the SEC. So again.......not so outlandish. It also seems outlandish because we haven't played up to standards in the big games this season (except IU).

Heck I will be very pleasantly surprised if they even make the tournament honestly. This team and the construction of this squad is really really bad. I was a huge fan of POPE and his bball IQ I will sadly admit I was waaay off.

IU was up 9 points during the first half. That game was dangerously close to being a blowout in favor of IU. Truth be told, had they kept their turnovers down and shot the 3-ball better, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion.

We’ll see tomorrow if Kentucky has made a major turnaround and not just the fact that IU wasn’t a particularly good team and were playing a bad game.

I really don’t understand how someone views a UK fan, which is a fan of the most prestigious program in the country, as a bad fan if they expect the men in charge of the program to excel and win to the standards set for 100 years. And how they have an issue with Kentucky fans when hold the men accountable who aren’t doing the job to the standards set. It makes no sense, it’s absurd. They will literally allow the program to fall to ash and support it, who’s the bad fan?

who’s the bad fan?
Neither depending on the context. Just people on a spinning blue dot arguing who the good guy is —- on something entirely subjective. If Pope doesn’t turn this around, I expect his support will wane further. For now, there’s still room for people to be on the fence about it one way or the other.
