I talked to Jeffersonville (Ind.) forward Tre Singleton about his offer from Northwestern, a school he thinks could be a perfect match for him.
I saw the kid play against Lawrence North in the semi state semi finals. He scored 25 and was unstoppable. Though it must be said they were lucky to win by 2 when they trailed most of the game.
In the semi state final against Ben Davis and KJ Windham, he only scored 8, and, unlike the previous game, they led all game just to lose it at the end by 1.
Kid is very crafty. Uses his body very well. A bit like a shorter Ryan Young in his craftiness, though faster and basing his moves more on creating space with his strong body. He is not athletic at all.
I see him getting other high major offers. But not from a blue blood like Louisville.

Imagine one of those kids who falls through the cracks due to lack of athleticism. Land in some mid major. Make the tournament as an upperclassman and school everyone with his moves. Instant March sensation. Like the recent kid from Loyola or someone like that.
NU, first high major to do so, offered on 06/28. Since then, kid had the following offers:
06/30 - Saint Louis and Ball State
07/12 - Butler
07/13 - DePaul
07/14 - Charlotte, Clemson and Louisville
07/15 - Notre Dame, Wake Forest and Xavier
??/?? - Purdue
06/30 - Saint Louis and Ball State

As always, I enjoy your comments. Having an opinion (and stating it) is the only thing that keeps this message board afloat.
To be clear, the non-athletic part wasn't my assessment, it was taken from another commenter. For all I know the kid is Superman.

Three possible things at play here:
1) I might over estimate how blue blood Louisville is these days. I know, as I lived in the area for over 3 years, how big the program is locally, but beyond the area, it has been a rough period post Pitino
2) I might underestimate how a local kid is perceived, blue blood or not. Jeffersonville is not just close, you can walk across the bridge to it from downtown Louisville
3) I might be completely off on my assessment. Kid is a 6'8 junior, who, up until recently, not many paid attention to even though he was the best player in one of the best teams in the state. He might arrive in college close to 6'10. He is not fast or bouncy, but is very smart and strong as a bull.
Honestly I thought you might have referred to Louisville as a "blue blood" sarcastically.
I'm always glad when a hard-working big guy starts to get noticed for his intangible skills, as opposed to his points per game or his "stars."
We lose both Big Matt and Fitzmorris next year. With three commits and five graduating, I think at least one of the remaining two spots needs to be a near 7 footer to pair with Hunger.
What you're saying is true (we lose 2 7 footers) but I don't think its a given that we can recruit another capable one out of high school.
And a lot of those guys aren't ready as freshmen.
Collins has been relying on the portal to bring in a grad student center (Verhoeven, Preston and Fitzmorris) but that was all "Covid exemption" based. The grad student transfer pool drops significantly this year.
My hope is that Collins can target a big guy who was an under-recruited late bloomer and is playing for a mid-major as a freshman or sophomore this season. Or get a big guy who graduated on time after redshirting with a power 6 school.
If that doesn't work, I think mickbula's notion of three 6'8" guys and 2 guards is not that far-fetched. Collins is not a fan of pounding the ball inside generally, although with this year's personnel it is essential. Lowery, on the other hand, loves having a 7 footer defensively.
I could see a shift in approach after Nicholson and Fitzmorris are gone. But it might be 2 forwards, 2 wings and a guard.
Hunger is right now the back-up Center, based on his minutes in the Europe trip. He has 3 more years of eligibility and I suspect he will start at the 5 next year. Collins will then look for a back-up 5 through the portal if he can't recruit someone out of high school this year.
I was not impressed by the few minutes Fitzmorris got in Europe. He will play only through foul trouble to Matt and Luke or in case of injuries.
Good point about Hunger having 3 years.
Fitzmorris is a bit of statue compared to Nicholson.
But Hunger, who is probably 6'9 1/2" is something of a tweener between a 4 and a 5, even at 250 lbs.
He has every right to improve his 3 point shooting - and Collins prefers that type of post player.
