Last night I pulled up a feature on one of the links provided by GoUPurple on his HailtoPurple.com Northwestern Fan Website. The link was to the late FarEastWildcat's predecessor website thanks to portions that have been preserved by The Wayback Machine. Here are some screenshots to entice those here into Northwestern Football nostalgia to explore further:

Should add that the HailtoPurple.com website has just been revived with "much to early" Northwestern Football Bowl Game projections.

Adding to FarEastWildcat's graphic and caption regarding "Taking the Purple to the Great White Heron" here are my photos of Himeji Castle during Sakura season on my last visit there in spring of 2019.

Elaborating on the movies that FarEastWildcat recounts having used the castle as a prop, another major motion picture was the 1967 James Bond film with Sean Connery, "You Only Live Twice." Himeji Castle was the setting for the Ninja school in the film. In my second photo below Is a walkway up to the castle which replicates an exact location scene in the movie.

(FWIW a local controversy ensued when a later proved erroneous reporting was disseminated in the Japanese press suggesting a wall in the castle was damaged during the filming when the Ninjas were seen throwing axes at it. Apparently a false wall had been erected but the publicity damage was already done so the final scenes of the Ninja school sequence were filmed elsewhere in Japan.)

Speaking of nostalgia, from the photo archives I just came across this Motley Crew seated at a former NGN Banquet during the Sammy Sosa era when Coach Walkerwas at the helm of The Pickle Boat:

We're doing fine and hope you and your bride are as well. Do you have any plans to be up this way anytime soon? If so, please stop and I'll have a few Straubs ready for you!

I'm not on Facebook and don't want to be. Any other suggestions?
I have an old phone number that’s probably not any good, but maybe I have an old email. You could ask Glades or Smithy, but I don’t think either of them have spoken to him in quite a while

Thanks for sharing. I don't recall the taking the purple to Himeji Castle. I think I remember photos of the Great Wall of China.
