Maybe NU should consider offering his teammate, Souley Boum, too, on the chance they want to keep playing together.

He's a scoring machine and he had a triple-double in his penultimate UTEP game. I think he would actually fit very well in a Collins offense.

"...May 1 – the deadline for a player in the transfer portal to pick another school and still be eligible this season."
Quote from the UTEP article. The upcoming week should be interesting.

Well it would appear he came away with an offer.
Wow. On paper he's not that good. 10+ pts per 40 minutes. 7+ rebounds.
At UTEP.
Jeff Sagarin had NU rated 8 points better than UTEP last year. Big Ten overall was 11.5 points better than Conference USA. Thats a significant difference in conference level and overall talent.

He does have size though. 6'9" 225.

Over at kenpom, I saw that in '22, TV played 9 games vs. Tier A+B opponents, and averaged 63.3% of minutes. (For comparison, NU had 16 Tier A+B opponents in '22).

During those games:
  • 99.0 ORTG, 16.6%Poss and 15.2%Shots;
  • 52.1 eFG%, 54.0 TrueShoot%
  • 7.7& OREB%; 12.9% DREB%
  • 6.7 ARate, 21.7 TORate
  • 2.6 Blk%, 2.3 Stl%
  • 5.4 FoulsCommitted/40, 2.6 FoulsDrawn/40, 29.2 FTRate
  • 64.3% FT (9/14); 52.1% 2PTFG (25/48); 0% 3PTFG (0/0)

I don't expect him to get 63.3% of minutes - probably more like 27.4% of minutes, like Elyjah Williams. Even in limited usage, the ceiling for this guy is replacement-level backup. He did have a 4.1 Block Rate in CUSA, which would place him 11th, so perhaps his height might be useful. He sure ain't taking shots away from the guards though.

It’s appears strictly interior defense. No 3 point shots. We all know we don’t have much interior defense.

Boum is the type of player who can create offense. And he's good at drawing fouls and hits 85% of his free throws.

He's the type of player who would improve NU's offense (despite Collins).
Boum transfers to Xavier.

Oh well; it was probably just a fantasy. But if Collins was bringing in TV, I hope he at least thought about Boum.

NIL probably played a large part in the decision...

My sources tell me that Collins actually did inquire about Boum, while recruiting his less dynamic teammate...

This is an email sent by NU admissions to Coach Collins...

"Hi Coach, Regarding the player you inquired about, Souley Boum at UTEP, he is similar to John Blutarsky, in that he also has a 0.0 grade point average."

Needless to say Sean Miller didn't bother asking Xavier's admissions for their input.

Souley Boum is a grad transfer, so he must have something better than a 0.0 GPA, given that graduating requires passing grades in some number of classes.

It is entirely feasible, perhaps likely, that he would not get past NU admissions, but the 0.0 GPA smear is ridiculous.

IT WAS A JOKE - IT WAS MEANT TO BE RIDICULOUS
