It doesn’t matter what you and I want. Even Mitch Barnhart doesn’t have a decision regarding Pope’s future. It’s the boosters. They’re the ones funding this team and they’ll be the ones whose decision will determine if the current coaching tenure remains in place or if we move on to another coach.
If Pope fails to make the tournament or worse, ends up with a losing record, boosters will probably push for some change, whether it’s Pope reorganizing his coaching staff and his methods or have Pope himself replaced.
The idea that coaches need 3-4 years is absurd in this day and age. In the last two years he has had two completely different teams and it’s likely that next year we’ll have another team that looks very little like this one.
