No we don't. We're a fringe top 25 team right now. Jason and Frank have no 'injury' excuse and neither is playing anywhere close to their high school rankings. Where Jason was ranked, he should be having a Monk/Fox/Fultz/Jackson season and he's nowhere close to that. Ditto for Frank and Bolden, who were ranked like Miles Bridges and TJ Leaf. Our fans have become very whiny, it's annoying.Lol what a,crock ! So no Allen for VT. No k or Jefferson for fla st or UL ! Working injured players in and out all year . What a moronic article . Very whiny eh? Ironic statement. No we don't. We're a fringe top 25 team right now. Jason and Frank have no 'injury' excuse and neither is playing anywhere close to their high school rankings. I agree with you....However I think despite the injuries there's still enough talent on hand where we could be playing BETTER OVERALL as a team. I guess thats my concern....

That's precisely what I've been saying. No one argues they need to move the ball and get others involved but like you said, I don't think it's pure selfishness of I have to get mine, I think it's a lot of I only know how to do this. They're inexperienced all at once and it shows. They'll get there I think and it's frustrating to watch, a lot, but chastising them probably isn't the answer. You can say do this until your purple in the face but if you don't know what this is? Or how to get there, it's not going to get better. These kids need to be taught and learn on the fly. It's pretty simple. Often our guys are playing as if there is one guy in front of them. The freshmen are not looking for teammates on O or to help on D. They are still playing like they are the one star among high school boys. They need to wake up and play to create opportunities for others and to rescue others when their man beats them. I've seen very little of that. Not all of it is selfishness. There's a lot of plain inexperience out there. Even Jeter overruns plays badly and delays too long when not in position to score. We'll get better, but how much is the question we're all impatiently waiting to get the answer to.
It's frustrating because similar ranked guys have showed this ability sooner. Even still, guys that have done very well so far, Monk for example, have had moments where they hog the ball or play horrible help D. Our problems have been amplified by spotty attendance, in games and in practice. That's precisely what I've been saying. No one argues they need to move the ball and get others involved but like you said, I don't think it's pure selfishness of I have to get mine, I think it's a lot of I only know how to do this. I thought everything but the last sentence was fair. I was one that thought (pre-season) that we could certainly go all year and not lose 4 games. Many here did at the time too. We have already lost 4. Of course there are circumstances that we couldn't have anticipated. But I think most of us are disappointed with how the season has gone thus far. And to say Duke has been disappointing (which was the point of the article), well I think that's fair. I take some issue with "Duke isn't good." We aren't very good right now. But I don't think it means we can't be.[/QUOTE
You are correct, we are not very good right now. Unless a lot of things change we are in trouble the rest of the season and you can expect a .500 ACC winning percentage. I just do not understand how a team with this much talent can lose in the fashion we have. WE are a fragile team that has little room for error with no point guard. The injury excuses are getting old. We played with 6 guys last year and I would take that team over this one any day of the week. At least last years team would claw and fight you all night long. This team folds up tents when they get hit in the mouth.
Ding DING DING DING!!! But yet, everyone who says that are the ones that are whining apparently. Give this team a chance to play together and see what happens. If we still have problems in mid feb, then i'll throw in the towel- there is still time.Guess how many games we've lost with a full lineup? Try zero. We've had a starter miss every game we've lost. Kansas- Tatum/Giles; VT- Grayson; FSU/Louisville- Amile (and K). We're 3-0 with a full lineup, which doesn't mean that we're going to be head and shoulders above everyone else, but this team has clearly lost out on a lot of time to develop chemistry.
Comparing our guys to those other freshmen isn't fair at all. Like someone early said, the SEC isn't the ACC (not even in football...lol). Bridges and Fultz are part of their own "underachieving" teams also, and again play in much weaker conferences. They will figure it out.
Very whiny eh? Ironic statement.
It was neither ironic nor facetious. It was critical. No kidding. I couldn't tell if he was trying to be facetious with that statement or not.
We have literally played games where all but 1 of our top 8 players have missed. People are surprised that we've struggled because we are Duke, bottom line!I thought everything but the last sentence was fair.
