Playoff committee made their bed, now they have to lie in it. Hopefully this is the catalyst for some tough conversations.

No they shouldn’t. They should be in over Bama and probably even OU. They won 10 in a row and lost two games by a combined 4 points.

That is, of course, an opinion but here are some metrics that paint a different picture when compared to 3 other teams many are saying should have been in and didn't make it -

Notre Dame (10-2)

Strength of Record: 13 | Strength of Schedule: 44 | Record vs. Ranked Opponents: 2-2

Texas (9-3, 6-2 SEC)

Strength of Record: 12 | Strength of Schedule: 8 | Record vs. Ranked Opponents: 3-2

Vanderbilt (10-2, 6-2 SEC)

Strength of Record: 11 | Strength of Schedule: 24 | Record vs. Ranked Opponents: 4-2

BYU (11-2, 8-1 Big 12)

Strength of Record: 9 | Strength of Schedule: 22 | Record vs. Ranked Opponents: 1-2

I thought when they joined the ACC…they stimulated in ___ years they would officially be in the ACC in football. Was that not the case? I thought they were at some point to be in the ACC in ALL sports.

I agree with whoever above mentioned a post season ban for opting out of bowl games. Maybe a one year ban will do it. The situation last year with Marshall? would be an exception. This year's team shouldn't be punished for last year's roster defection, imo.

I like ND, second favorite team behind Carolina, probably because they were easy to access (no cable but got channel 4) growing up, and were usually decent. Loved Lou, and got to visit up there in 06. Great atmosphere. They can opt out if they want, half the team would opt out of a crappy bowl anyway.

Now I know why everybody told us in the 1990s and early 2000s that college football needed a playoff! Isn't this great?!?!

Notre Dame's complaint isn't really with Bama. Its about Miami, against whom they were ranked 2 spots ahead of last week and neither team played a game this week. I hate ND, but to the extent they are claiming the entire process is a farce, they are correct.

On the other hand, ND wants to have it's ACC cake and eat it too. They bound themselves to a crappy conference and are now upset that their strength of schedule is a liability.

Don’t blame them. Bowl Games have sucked since the Transfer Portal.

Now you have the NFL departures. On top of that the many more portal departures. Your left with the players who want to be there and some who are just going through the motions and more focused on off season for a break. They are scrimmage games with depleted teams.

Strength of schedule is the key metric which gave them the strength of record.
Join a conference or play teams with a pulse.

I am well on record on this very board for absolutely despising Notre Dame.

Based on the number of "likes" by other people at the very top of this post, everyone is more or less on the same page as me. ND is like the main stream media - they're "fake" news, and fake football. They play a cupcake schedule, bolstered by their "exclusive" NBC deal, + the same fake media slobbering all over their ......ummm....lower region, their sole strategy is to ride the coattails of this myth that they are somehow God's gift to college football.....only to fake their way into a championship game, and then they get their butts handed to them.

With their "too good to go to a bowl game" attitude, they're taking their ball and going home. Hopefully this will just make people hate them more. Good riddance. Bye Felicia. You ain't all that and haven't been in many, many decades, and counting..... Brings joy to my heart. :)

It does seem to me the rationale for ND not making a playoff bracket comes down to the lack of a conference affiliation. Unless you're undefeated, without a conference you will be the odd man out.

Actually they're more like the fool's gold that is now adorning every corner of the Whitehouse. They claim to be the best at everything, but when it comes down to it, they're just a paper-thin gilding covering up massive overconfidence.
