If any team needed access to an off-season weight room ...

I noticed the article includes Bryce Hopkins in the list of big swings in recruiting, but didn't he commit to Louisville already?

Nice article. I'm glad Hamilton lives in the area. He does the best NU content.

He refers to the incoming freshmen. If these circumstances go deep into the summer, freshmen around the country are going to have an even tougher time getting acclimated to the game than they usually do. I know top programs get the kids on campus during the summer and start coaching in various ways - with or without the coaches.

Do you think an Athletic subscription is worth the money? There's probably some good deals right now, and I might take the plunge.

Absolutely. Great coverage of all sports, including excellent coverage of European soccer if that's you bag.

I love the Athletic, though I can't say I've read a ton of articles during this sportsless time as most of it is speculation or pieces like "Who is the greatest player to wear every jersey number in [sport]?" During normal times though I find they seek out in-depth stories that go beyond the usual hot takes and game recaps that you can find anywhere else.

They have actually done OK under the circumstances with pre-free agency, recruiting, and mailbags. They also employ as many NU alumni as anyone, including of course Hamilton.

100%!! In fact, It's generally overkill. It's like receiving Sports Illustrated every day.

Here's my only warning. How high will the Athletic be on your reading list? If you think you will dive into it every day, then it's awesome. However, if you think you will only look once or twice a week, it's almost too much.

Honestly, the only reason I keep it is because the college basketball coverage is the best out there.

Their local coverage needs a different direction also. It's not very creative. I don't need a minimum of three stories a day on mediocre Cubs and the Bears teams, and daily stories on incredibly sh*tty Bulls and Hawks teams. Also, don't look for any knowledge about college sports from the local group. It's pretty obvious they follow clicks and trends on the Score, which is like the McDonalds of sports journalism. A lot of people may like them, but it's a limited focus.

It's the best Bulls coverage I've read in a long, long time. Really sharp.

Athletic is fantastic. The amount of content is almost overwhelming, but so much of it is fantastic. Sadly, there's not a lot of NU content, but that's probably because there isn't much of an audience for it. I do have two friends who write for them, in the interest of full disclosure, but I honestly think the subscription price is cheap for what you get.

It has had some the best articles I have read since the internet era. Although I am not willing to buy a subscription because the only team I care enough to read about year round is NU hoops and FB.
