No surprise. Pretty good company for NU.

PBJ announces Top 10

I predict that PBJ will not be a Cat. I expect his future will depend on whether he is physically ready for the NBA next June over anything else. If he’s not ready, I would guess that he will play for his dad while training for a year and pretending to do school for a few months.

The kid is a phenomenal hoops player but he needs to go the route that is best suited to get him to the NBA ASAP. That route is probably not through Evanston and he and his family know it. I’d guess Collins does as well.

I think the family is trying to live as normal a life as possible and while the NBA is a reality, it does not drive all their decision making.

I could see him going to UWM to be with his dad.

Or, like my kids, I could see him going out of state specifically to get away from his parents.

Agreed. Though all indications are his family is not going to pressure him, going to UWM would also help his dad after a tough start there (and not going to UWM might very well decide whether his dad stays in the job).

Weird thing is not sure how much it would help bc it’s one season. PBJ is ridiculously good. His highlights are fun to watch bc he’s so skilled. Watch them next to other one and done guys and you see he’s clearly on par

Who do you all think are good comps for PBJ?

He's not uber athletic but very skilled and an elite shooter from the highlights I viewed.

Larry Bird was the first guy that popped in my head based on size, shooting, rebounding, and general skills/savvy. Not sure if PBJ is THAT great of a passer though, Bird was one of the best passing forwards of all time...

This has to be the first time that NU has made even the Top 30 list of a Top 5 player.

I tossed that idea around Cedric. Bird was the closest comp I could think of. But it’s not a comp I was totally satisfied with. So much of Bird’s dominance was his mental superiority. And I have no sense for where PBJ is on that chart.

Jack Sikma? Both have low/no elevation range to the next county.

The game has changed so much in the last decade. Guys like PBJ are making that happen. Making it hard to come up with solid comps.

Looking ahead I think PBJ will need to be satisfied with being a big guy, playing a big guy’s game. In that role his handle, savvy, passing and insane shooting could make him special among the freaks of the world.

A great question.

My answer: Sam Perkins with an outside shot.

A cross between two current Celtics, Hayward and Tatum. More athletic than Hayward and less athletic then Tatum.

Man, I hope he chooses NU. I think there's like a 20% chance, with Milwaukee and Duke each at 35% and 10% for the field. Total speculation based on interviews, etc.
