Head coach Chris Collins
"I'm very pleased with the win. There a lot of things we have to do better, but there is a long ways to go and I won't apologize for a win. We got a 16-point lead and started fouling — silly fouls. (Fairfield) started smelling they were in the game and they were walking up to the foul line without working for their points. We have to do a better job playing with our hands and bodies.''
"Bryant McIntosh (20 points, 5 assists) was sensational. He only made one turnover and had four steals. I don't know when the last time was he had four steals. His best performance before this was at Maryland last year and this was right up there with it. He wants the ball down the stretch and we want him to have it. You need go-to guys like him and (Tre) Demps.''
"Demps (14 points) just had one of those games, I'm not worried about it. It's great to win when he's 4-for-16, All he needs is one game to break out.''
Re: Sanjay Lumpkin's defense on Marcus Gilbert (18 points). "We wanted to take aways his 3s; he shot 21 of them the first two games. He only made two (of four) tonight, but he was also forced into five turnovers. Most of his points came off of drives.''
Re: Joey van Zegeren. "He gave us very good minutes, especially when Alex Olah got in foul trouble in the first half. His energy was huge. He got a tip dunk and made two free throws in the first half. Seventeen points and seven rebounds is good night from your two centers. We're looking for 20 and 10 each night.''
Re: Adjusting to officiating this year. "With the new emphasis in the rules, you have to drive more. They (the rules) are going to reward hard drives. We have to use these rules to our advantage. We have good shooters on this team, but I still want them to drive the ball more.''
Re: Technical foul with .02 remaining. "It was called on our team for standing up. Seriously, that's what it was called for.''
Bryant McIntosh
Re: Four steals. "I played more aggressive tonight. Coach has been on me to be more aggressive. especial on offense.''
Re: 3-point play putting Cats up 73-65. "I'm trying to read people's eyes more and keep the dribble alive. I saw an opening on the right and put a little English on it as I went in.''
"This was a very good game for me, but I don't want to rank them. I'm very comfortable with the ball in my hands down the stretch, especially when we're up. I'm very confident when I go to the line that I will make my free throws. I've been doing it all my life.''
Sanjay Lumpkin
Re: Guarding Gilbert. "I wanted to get up in his face. He's a great shooter, but I'm very familiar with the Princeton offense.''
"We need to address our defense, especially on the pick and roll. It has to get better.''
