NU-Purdue first half thread

As has become somewhat of a routine, the Wildcats open the game looking rather sluggish on offense, missing all six of their field goal attempts, five of those from 3 (Alex Olah has missed both of this 3-point attempts). The defense has been considerably better, however, and they trail Purdue 4-0 at the first media timeout.

The offense finally came to life, once again boosted by Gavin Skelly (a 3 and an assist) and Scottie Lindsey (two points and an assist) off the bench. They're getting pummeled inside, and Purdue's two seven-footers have led them to an 8-2 edge in the offensive rebounding department. 14-9 Purdue at the second timeout

Northwestern keeps missing wide-open 3s (Aaron Falzon bricked back-to-back attempts from the top of the key with the closest defender ten feet away each time) and a combined 13 points and 10 rebounds out of Purdue's twin-towers has the Wildcats in a 29-17 hole at the under-four timeout. Olah, Pardon, Skelly and van Zegeren each have two fouls

Northwestern made a mini-run at the end of the first half, scoring ten points in the final three minutes, including the final six of the half. Demps leads the team with 10 points, but Purdue has more offensive rebounds (12) than Northwestern has defensive rebounds (8). 35-27 Boilermakers at the break
