Minnesota, like Nebraska, is dealing with injuries to starters.
6'11" center Dawson Garcia (leading scorer) returned to practice this week after missing Wednesday's game against Indiana while dealing with a bone bruise. Coach Ben Johnson did not clear Garcia to play, but said that the sophomore will be evaluated closer to tip-off before making a decision.
6'9" 255 lbs Pharrel Payne has returned to practicing, but still has to clear concussion protocol ahead of Saturday's game against Northwestern. Payne missed Wednesday's game against Indiana while remaining in the protocols. With injuries to Payne and Dawson Garcia, the Gophers may be down two of their best forwards, with Treyton Thompson (6'11" 190???) available to replace one of them.
