If OU wins out, then even then they will need ALOT of help to squeeze into the playoffs. OU has been bumped up quite a bit lately from beating awful Big XII teams. Prolly getting a lot more credit than they should have received from getting wins against terrible teams. Even if OU wins out the rest of the schedule (which is the meat of the Big XII), then OU will still need a TON of help by teams above them losing. Some teams above OU right now literally would need to lose twice for OU to pass them.

I agree, Billy. But did you notice that OU was one of the teams listed with Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Washington, Ohio State, and Penn State on College Football Final guys picked their top four. Of course, no one even mentioned OU or PSU, but I thought it was odd that those two were even on the board.

No I didn't see that. I'm curious if the guys picking OU has actually looked at the defense OU has put on the field this year? I mean I'm all for OU getting into the playoffs again if they can somehow squeeze in there. But I'm worried if OU shows up with the defense we've seen all season, then OU would be bent over and just pounded from behind like the OU program has never been pounded before.

It made no sense to me either. I'm not too anxious for OU to play a SEC team in a bowl, but I want to win the conference.

I saw that too and was amazed to be considered top 10 by those guys. I'll be overjoyed if we win out and earn a New Years day game. I don't want to get bent over by squeaking into the final four again. Better for that to come next year IF we can build a Defense, imho of course.

I say play them. Anytime. Anywhere. If OU takes an *** whipping, then maybe changes come. If Sooner Magic shows with a #4 OU Sugar Bowling a #1 Alabama, then all of the players get an extra game for all that inexperience people say they've got. It is simple...

Washington loses to USC and Washington State. PAC 12 Champion USC with a 10-3 record sits out of playoff.

Penn State plays Minnesota for B1G CHUMPionship after tOSU loses in East Lansing and Michigan drops two to Iowa/Indiana and tOSU. Minnesota are B1G CHUMPS.

Louisville loses to Kentucky, because Mark is fighting for his brothers.

Line up a few 10-2 teams, with OU being the little xii conference champion, and it is possible. 1 vs 4 Alabama/Oklahoma 2 vs 3 Clemson/Minnesota

Will it happen? Not likely. But it is possible within the realms of several scenarios. First things first, BEAT BAYLOR...

I'd love to have to eat crow about Mike Stoops, yet I doubt I will. More likely I will be on some other board eating crow like I have on Clemson's board the past two years...

BOOMER SOONER!!!!

I'm with you. Getting to the Final Four even w/ a loss is better than not getting there at all. There are a lot of ypung kids on this team that has talent & are getting some PT. Playing in a final four game can only improve the team.

I dunno if I 100% agree with this. I know it sucks to get into a big game and get hammered. It sucked last year getting pummeled by Clemson. But recruiting has been affected greatly in a positive way just from being on the stage of making a playoff. It kinda like saying you don't want to get into the national title game if you may get embarrassed. Hell no, you ALWAYS want to get into the game playing for a national title.
Not only that, but I hate to think the negative recruiting other programs could use against OU if the Big XII doesn't get into the playoff for the 2nd time in 3 years.

I will only say that I want the four best teams in the country in the playoffs. I would like for OU to be a top four team. Then what happens happen. So far, we haven't played like a top four team, but things can change. I truly believe there is a good chance of winning the B12. It all starts Saturday and there's nothing more important than beating Baylor at this point.

There are those that talk about the bowl game record... 8-9 isn't great... A play away in 2003, and it is 9-8 with 2 NC's. What if Bradford hits a few of those first half misses against Florida in 2008? Then it is 10-7 and 3 NC's... OU plays better teams in bowls than most. Every year! Gary Gibbs was the last coach to take OU bowling, getting embarrassed by BYU. Now it is not a question of getting to a bowl, but what bowl.

I don't like watching OU lose in the playoffs or NC game, but I'd rather be there than beating a 7-5 team in Memphis or Shreveport... You can't win it if you ain't in it...

Do you think they want us in because we do travel very well. Maybe they want in to see us get pounded. Who knows. I just hope we win our conference. If we just had a defense that was just average.

I've said most of this season, OU is a Top 15-25 team. We have the worst defense in the history of College Football. OU has laid some eggs in years past but I always felt like we deserved to be on the field. There's noway, I think this team deserves to be on the field playing in the final four.

The good news, the teams from 7th to 20th are all pretty much the same. But the Top 6 would all hang 50-70 on OU, hell Louisville might score 80+ points. I"ll most likely throw a beer at the TV, ever time the defense takes the field the second half. OU is already in the history books for giving up the most passing yards, this year. I don't want them in the history books for the worst playoff blowout .

Do we get another *** whipping from Clemson, or demolished by Bama? Last year, I was skeptical, we hadn't faced any great teams at full strength. This year scares me, if we played some of the best. The offense will score some points but nowhere near enough to hang with the big boys. tOSU with the youngest team in College Football, beat us up and down the field. I would hate to see what they would do now.

There were those who were scared to play Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. To be the best, beat the best. Bring it. If it gets completely broke, fix it. If it needs Sooner Magic, use it. True competitors don't shy away from the fight, they embrace it.

STOP! Can't believe this discussion is happening. Sooners are not, repeat, are not, making the 2016 playoffs even with a big xii championship. Also, Bob Stoops will not win another NC. He prepares his teams to soft to compete against the elite.

They can have whatever discussion they like just like you can continue to be a whiney liitle *fill in the blank*.

Oklahoma getting into the playoff is a long shot but still possible. And I for one, am curious to see what they could do. There's Alabama and everyone else. Clemson has looked less than title worthy most of the season. Ohio State looked good against us and their last two games but have appeared very beatable at times. Michigan and Louisville both have a tendency to go through the motions or have severe lapses on offense (Michigan) or defense (Louisville). Penn State and Wisconsin are both solid teams but very beatable.

With a healthy Westbrook, Mixon finally at the top of his game, Mayfield playing as efficiently as any quarterback, and an offensive line playing much better from the first few weeks, no team would be thrilled to face us, regardless of how poor the defense has been.

I will say this....OU isn't 100% out of it, they need some HUGE performances these last 2 games to make an kind of relevant case to be included.
If Alabama wins out, they are in.
If Michigan wins out, they are in. (unless I'm missing something with how the B1G is done)
If Washington wins out, they are in.
If Clemson wins out, they are in.

OU needs those teams to falter, then also some teams that would fill those teams spots that may go over OU would need to lose as well.

OU needs A LOT of help!!!! But it's certainly not impossible.

I'm wondering if this will be a year where one conference somehow squeezes in 2 teams into the CFP??

True colors? Whatever helps you sleep at night. Least I'm not sobbing into my hankey cause a few Sooner fans are having an enjoyable conversation about the craziness of college football that just may give us a chance.

We've got only 3 more guaranteed games to watch the team we (supposedly) root for before the end of another season. Do try and enjoy it. Or don't. But don't try and tell others they can't.

I think he meant *****...

"I can *****, I can *****, oh the ***** is back..."

There are a number of descriptive terms that could have been used...that's why I left it to his imagination! Far be it from me to stifle another's creativity. Cryorfan can choose whatever his heart desires!

And now lOUisville has been handled by the hOUston cOUgars... So now there is the B1G and the PAC 12... One of # 2 & 3 are going to lose. They won't be conference champions. Washington State could win the PAC 12 with a 11-2 record. They are at # 22 in the CFP rankings... There will be at least one two loss team in the playoff this year, maybe two, in my opinion...

I haven't went after you. I gave my opinion of what I thought "fill in the blank" meant. You can take it however you want. You got involved in a thread about possibilities that I presented, and are now even closer to being true. If you don't want people to think of you that way, don't act like one.
