Bull. They don't want to play the Hawks right now and are backing out like cowards.
When the Indiana game was postponed several years ago, Iowa got stuck playing the makeup game with little rest. Barta needs to grow a pair and only allow the game to be rescheduled at a time convenient for the Hawks, not Northwestern.

I guess Collins forgot about what it takes to be a man. Gene Hackman could have taught him a thing or two...he played with four...remember.

Reschedule during Iowa’s next long break. If it means NW plays 3 games in 5 day……….
They play 3 games in 5 days.
If a Northwestern player died I don’t think any serious person would be upset. But, with NW having a grand total of 4 players unavailable they cannot play because their coaches managed the roster poorly. Iowa has dealt with injury/illness as well and freaking Carter Kingsbury gets meaningful minutes in those games. Against the directional Illinois team I think Iowa was missing 3 starters and that’s no excuse for losing we played what we had. This is how illness was handled the previous 100 years of basketball before Covid.
Did you also walk to school shoeless during snowstorms?

The point was he’s a non scholarship player getting minutes. Apparently Northwestern can’t find a way to field a team with 4 players out and Iowa did just fine.
I got a little carried away voicing my opinion this is different than a player dying and didn’t mean to trash Carter. Apologies.
I am of the opinion that Northwestern should forfeit the games they cannot play.
I don't think its that big of a deal to not play those games... its terribly inconvenient for those teams that get cancelled on.
but this should have been properly ruled on before the season began.

The Wildcats had only six players available, according to The Daily Northwestern, the student-run newspaper, therefore the game was called off.
My understanding is they only had six “scholarship” players which, if true, is an entirely different situation. You can’t normally reschedule games if you have some guys sick with the flu or ankle injuries just because you’re down scholarship players.
