That is terrible.

I used to ride on the highways, but finally gave it up. I'm a risk taker, but vehicles speeding by you a couple feet away, some blowing their horn and yelling, I finally gave it up.

Just not something I want to do anymore.

Terrible news RIP. Just last night i was making a left (I had the turn signal) and a biker went through the crosswalk. I would have hit him if I weren't paying attention. Even with bike lanes it's a dangerous hobby the way people drive.

Awful. And I know it might not be the time to say this.. but the Jets are just permanently cursed. This guy was a great with QBs and was going to be instrumental working with Zach Wilson.

I used to love riding my bike, but just don’t have the time now, but I was overly cautious because I knew the consequences (you lose vs a car).

I live in St matthews I’m Louisville and my god. We have tons of bike riders and they don’t care. They run stop signs (because as one told me “we have to keep out momentum), disregard a lot of traffic laws, etc. I’m shocked more aren’t killed. I’ll see them in a bike line and a car turning right. They won’t stop and that car can’t see them and they’ll fly thru the intersection while the car slams on their brakes

(and don’t give me they have a right to the road excuse for stuff like that. You need to be cautious as well)

We used to ride a lot, but rarely used roads, even with bike lanes. We mostly opted for "rails to trails" bike paths that were converted from old railway beds. There's just too many distracted drivers out there to risk it, not to mention the occasional shitbags, like the car load of punks who whizzed a beer bottle by one of my friend's head at 55+ MPH as he was riding in the bike lane of US 11W in Tennessee.

People on bikes are generally not paying much attention to car traffic these days. Have had so many cross in front of me at intersections and be in the middle of roads out in the country, sometimes riding 2 by 2, not giving it a thought that the vehicles that are driving 45mph plus won't see them on the other side of the hill until it's too late.

When I was a kid you were taught to watch out for traffic, that the road is for cars first, bikes second. You had to make way for them, and because of that there were less deaths for those on bikes. I know at least 5 people that have been run off the road and/or hit by vehicles while biking. 2 are dead as a result, one is still alive but still has issues to this day, and 2 don't ride unless in a bike lane, park, or protected area if at all.

I'm surprised more aren't killed each year

Hope to see more details about this at some point. Wonder if he was wearing a helmet?

Again, not sure this is the right timing, seeing as how it was a coach for my own damn team, but this is required viewing for anti-bike people.. and **** it, for bike people as well:
