OADs and Grad Transfers

Based on the transfers/rumored transfers and probable NBA departures, it looks like we are going to have to rely on OADs and grad transfers. On a positive note, I am excited and will love to see what the G.O.A.T. can do with this mix of talent I don't think he has ever had before. I would like to get a list of possible grad transfers going, but so far I could not find any type of list on google.

The Grad transfer rule is being abused. In the ACC coaches forum on ESPN they all said it is being manipulated....despite using it themselves i might add. BUT it does add an interesting dynamic if you lose 6-8 players in a year. I hope we dont adopt a OAD + Grad transfer policy to fill our roster...it reeks of being a mercenary BB program

We are going to have to do something if we have as many departures as have been talked about.

Yeah I read the article about how it is gutting the mid major programs, which is why we saw a minimal amount of mid major programs in the tournament this year. Other big programs are using it though, and it seems like the only way besides recruits that we can have an immediate refill of a team for next year when losing this much firepower.

In addition to the grad-transfer rule, mid-majors have to deal with overlooked prospects that realize quickly that they are good enough to play for a P5 school. UNC-Asheville is the perfect example of this. They made the NCAA Tournament as a 15-seed last year and their top two players were both freshman that transferred out - Dwayne Sutton to Louisville and Dylan Smith to Arizona. UNCA finished the regular season at 23-8 this year; what might have been for the school had the dynamic freshmen returned for a sophomore campaign?

We're talking about grad transfers right? Don't they have to sit if they leave a mid-major for a P5 school? I don't see how grad transfers can gut anyone. If a guy can play, he doesn't redshirt and so even if he graduates early (rare), he'd have one year to play. I imagine the grad transfer rule is much more of an issue in football where guys redshirt as freshmen more.

In 2015, we had four returning players. 1 senior in Quinn Cook; 2 juniors in Amile and Marshall; 1 sophomore in Matt Jones. That's it. And for the record, the freshman scored 60 of the 68 points against Wisconsin.

This is the 2nd year we've had multiple OAD players on the team. But to be fair, Tatum was the ONLY one that was a main cog. Frank Jackson appears to be a two-year player. Harry Giles will probably be a OAD - but he's only had a marginal impact on the team. He was utilized significantly less than any other OAD we've had in program history. Corey Maggette is the only other OAD to come off the bench, but he was a big-time impact player. Tatum is the only prototypical OAD player on this team (double-digit scorer/lottery pick).

They would of dominated and made a run in the tourney. Those guys were freaks
