The day before we just beat #1 Purdue in a preseason exhibition game that definitely counts, or so many of us wanted to believe at the time. I could only imagine if, on that day, someone showed the future to me — my mind would have been blown to smithereens. It would be inconvenient to be interrupted during my conversation with fellow fans about the likelihood of an undefeated season, but I would look on in horror to learn that we’d be 9-6, losing by 35 to Gonzaga, blown out by Michigan State and failed to beat Missouri and North Carolina at home. No way I would have believed that was even possible.
