How is this the biggest game in NU BB history? The game against Vandy was more important because it was the first. How about Gonzaga?
I mean going into the game. Vandy WAS definitely more important than this game. Gonzaga game meant that we already had the "Not won in NCAA" monkey off our back as well. But again it was a first that we can only beat by beating a second round opponent. Win our second round game and then take down Gonzaga to get to elite eight

I am on the 9am UA flight from ORD to Sacramento. There is decent representation of NU fans (maybe 25 people wearing NU apparel, including Dave Eanet) but I was expecting A LOT more.
However, the pre-game reception has over 700 signups. Skimming the list I saw luminaries including:
Former BB Players: Kevin Rankin, Nick Fruendt, Nate Pomeday, Joe Branch, AJ Turner, Charlie Hall, Tino Malnati, Craig Moore, Kyle Henneberry, Matt Steger, Nate Taphorn (Steger and Henneberry were walk-ons were from the 80s or 90s).
Family: Doug Collins, the Barnhizer family
Influential Folks: Louie Vaccher, JA Adande, Darren Rovell, Mark Fainaru-Wada
Football Players: Jacob Schmidt, Ben Skowronek

A guy can exaggerate, can't he? I'd rather take that position than thinking it's going to be a bust. At this moment, I'd say it is the biggest game in NU history, because of what it could lead to. And if we play UCLA and beat them, that will be biggest game, and so forth. Trying to look forward, not backward.
The rumor that Ricky Byrdsong will be cheering on the Cats, from the stands, is categorically false.
On flight from DC to Sacramento. Several NU fans scattered. No BSU fans visible. Having been in Salt Lake in 2017 (one of the best experiences of my life), we had thousands and thousands of fans that took over the city. Maybe 6-8k people? I’d be surprised if we get that same level of support this time, but I bet we’ll a few thousand. I guess we’ll see!
I think the biggest game will be when we take down Gonzaga to get to the elite eight. Great payback.
The alumni association changed venues for the pep rally from Public House to Punchbowl Social, so maybe that's a good sign.
When we beat Vandy, we had the highest winning percentage in NCAA tournament games! It had been matched and possibly will be again, but never bettered! Great to see Ben back. Can't really blame him after what we experienced the last two years! Welcome back home Mr. S!!!
