I just made a post about this, they played Purdue then and on the same date of this year they were playing Purdue again and Woodson actually brought that chair out and used it as his personal seat for the game.

Wouldn't it shock the world if Coach Pope threw a fit like that? After the Georgia and bama games, I'm not sure if I wouldn't have thrown a chair myself.....

But thankfully, he's got too much class to do that.

But they won the chair throwing contest easily
His first throw was so good the other team didn't even try. The referees were so impressed they let him go to the locker room early. That's chair throwing dominance never seen before or since.

Little known fact: The Olympics committee canceled their planned chair throwing event after numerous country's demanded Knight be tested for steroids. "The shear anger needed for that perfect toss could only be possible with the use of performance enhancing drugs". We were robbed of gold and I'm still mad about it.

As many here have already said, Knight was an awful human being.

He said “I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it.”. He cracked a bullwhip at a black player in practice. He choked, punched, and slapped players. He knocked out an Indiana sports information director. He dislocated his son’s shoulder and broke his nose. He threw a random fan in a garbage can. He was convicted of hitting a cop.

Scumbag.

John Havlicek once said that Bobby Knight, the player, could never play for Bobby Knight, the coach.

I actually think knight was brilliant and a great human being. He developed solid people under his leadership.

Hated Indiana. Good guy by my perspective. Just rough around the edges.
You must have never had personal dealing with him. Grade A butt hole.

I wish YouTube had vids of all of his press conferences. I know they have some, but some of his most entertaining ones aren’t on there.
Some of the things he said in the 90’s at press conferences might get someone arrested if they said it today.

I had a couple of personal interactions with him. He was as nice as he could be.

Doesn’t really mean anything. I would guess most tyrants have a soft moment from time to time

As for the chair toss, seems like longer than 40 years ago.

Glad you did, because I had no respect for him as a human being after that. Just a greedy jerk.

I rember one reporter asking him how he was able to motivate Calbert Cheney to play so welll. Knight said that he poured boiling water down his throat and shoved a hot poker iron up his ***. Then told him if he played better tonight, they wouldn’t have to do that again tomorrow.

Another one asked about his players being afraid of him. He started joking that these guys are younger and stronger than him. “Scared of me? You think I bring a gun to practice?”
“So your players aren’t scared of you?”
Knight came back less joking and more angry “You dumb SOB . You don’t listen! Did you hear me say that I don’t carry a gun in practice?”

One of the fun things Knight said to a dumbass reporter once was something like, "we all learn to write by the 5th grade. Most go on the better things". 😁

The joke that came out of that was Knight was a furniture salesman before he started coaching. You buy a couch and loveseat and he'd throw the chair in for free. 😂
