According to that list, OU is #1 in both offense and defense in the Big 12.

Yes the Sooners are at the top, even after several games where lots o yards were given up. Georgia offense ranking was a bit surprising. Swimming high in a weak SEC East it appears.

OU's defense has yielded 144 points in its last 4 games. That's an average of 38 points per game.
This reflects to me that, while there has been some improvement on defense, Grinch is still 2-3 years away from building a defense that's playoff worthy.

That’s why I have come to the conclusion that OU is better off staying in the B12 with only 10 teams. That’s a big change for me but I’ve finally accepted the fact that we wouldn’t be nearly as successful in another conference. It sucks to feel this way.

I will note the point total may be inflated, somewhat, due to short field with turnovers or the occasional pick six. Defense still has a lot of room to grow, but I think our qb has not put them in the best position in recent weeks.

The fact that fully 20% of the top 25 offenses reside in the Big 12 seems to support the idea that it's more difficult to play D in the conference. I think that grouping of Big 12 D's in the 30-50 range would be higher if they were in other conferences.

Yet Clemson scored 37, Georgia 54, and Alabama 45 in the three playoff loses. Could the weak B12 defenses contribute to the B12 offensive success? Just saying.
