I don’t think it is a confidence thing at all. That was just incredibly impressive, elite defense. I feel good Drake got to his legs multiple times. He can make adjustments to finish.
I said to myself after the match….he can beat this guy.
Peterson can hang with Bouzakis, if he stays off his back in the first period and defends under hooks better. The scramble at the end of the match may have injured Bouzakis. The ref probably should have stopped it for PD?

Careers 🤣🤣. I don't make a penny off of wrestling I don't even use social media. You are lost with that one. Let's see how March goes.
Sadly there are some posters on here who I believe are attached to that wagon and I wasn’t sure if you were one of them. Not implying anything, just curious.

Exactly, we badly underachieved from 2011 through 2019.
I think this point is lost on some. Recruiting in this period really seemed a bit lazy and entitled. Like Brands thought they all should be begging him to be at Iowa instead of asking for their business.

Other than bringing his VT elite recruiting classes into an already solid Zalesky team, and later on the injection of the Young Guns wave......this is unfortunately what a Brands team really looks like. I thought Bassett would bring a possible 3rd wave but when that went south I believe it will be the final straw for Brands when we look back on his coaching career.

Final straw because Brands really needed Bo and Miller to hit the lineup next season and be the elite cant miss guys Iowa needed. The 27 class looks solid but there isn't a for sure Rockstar to hang your hat on. Brands really needed an elite 26 class. Next year will be really bad. Imo Brands is either done at the end of this March or next March. He wont have the luxury of seeing that 27 class

I did the same. Watched it this morning while everyone was asleep. Glad I didn’t take time away from family last night to watch real time. It’s not a good product being put on the mat. March will not be a disappointment because I’ve entered the “I don’t care” phase of my relationship with Iowa wrestling.

Well, maybe I still care a little bit.

By the way, March is only one month away. How much better, healthier, offensive do we expect the Hawks to get in one month?
I didn’t bother to get out of my place to watch the dual last night on B10 network. Decided listening on the radio took less effort and made more sense.

What Tom learned from 2011 to 2016 is that he had a fractured team and his training methods were overbearing.
He corrected this with the strong young guns class, a very cohesive group of guys. This class was supposed to compete and win national titles, which it did. (No Covid debate).
With only Spencer winning a National title, it really put a damper on recruiting efforts. A lot of energy and time was spent on the new facility, which also detracted from recruiting.
Now we are in a hole.

Agreed. Also to note is remember when Kem was decommiting from Iowa because he didn't think it was a good environment for him. Basically calling out Mike Evans whom had a reputation for going out drinking fighting. Somehow Tom got him recommited but kind of makes me think Tom can be tone deaf or lives in a different reality than the pulse of the team.

But also thinking about Kem recognizing a toxic culture at 18 years old does make me think coaching could be very natural for him. Never met the kid but if I was an AD hiring id love to ask him about what gave him pause and how Tom overcame that to get him here

Williams wrestled 160 as a high school senior and had weight issues his whole career at 149. Some people have heavy bones.
Williams bumped up from 145 to 160 because he wanted to wrestle Angelo fyi. This is a complete lie Williams has never had weight problems and doesn't cut.

Let's say he was 172-75 this offseason is that a cut?
