I am hoping we weren't giving you anything to use with our defensive effort because if that was the real deal we are in trouble. Offensively we were pretty much run oriented and didn't throw much but we do have a star studded receiver corp. This will be a huge game...for both teams...and games like this almost makes life bearable.

Jake....here is the bet I have with my Vols buddy. If Tennessee wins, I have to buy a Vols shirt of his choice and wear it a Sooner bar and have my picture taken with a bunch of Sooners. If OU wins, he does the same. I have two weeks to order the shirt and have the picture taken. I really don't want to go into a Sooner bar wearing a Vols shirt right after losing to Tennessee. I know he doesn't want to wear a Sooner shirt into his local hangout. So, I like what I saw of your defensive secondary and was surprised the Vols gave up 30 points. That gives me hope. You guys basically worn them down. You have a good offense. Should be a good game. Do you think I made a bad bet?;)

Jake... how many games do you guys play in Nashville?

Seems like your Vols gave up a lot of yards, especially passing to Bowling Green. I'm thinking our QB and receivers are going to scorch your secondary. Nobody is certain about our running game yet because of our offensive line, but surely the Sooners are better than Bowling Green. A lot better. As for the Vols running attack, our defense is really stout. I'm heavily leaning toward a convincing Sooner win.

Okie...because the game is in Knoxville it makes it an even game but advantage still goes to OU I think. That was a chincy bet. Had you and I bet it would have been a round on me at Gaylord Springs Hotel/Golf Resort if OU wins...if UT wins it would be a round on you at Southern Hills...that is providing you are a golfer.

That's not bad, but this is a BET!

Had this moose of a guy where I worked that was a rabid SC trojan fan. They were playing Cal, back when they were pretty salty.
Anyway, our bet was if Cal won, Dennis would have to wear his button down shirt unbuttoned and tied at the bottom for a week...ala fancy boy.
Likewise, and this would have been far worse on me, if SC won I'd have to wear my shirt unbuttoned and tied for a work week.
The football gods were with me and SC lost to the Cal. Bears.

Whew! I was really sweating that one...and never again.

I hated the game was played in Nashville...I am not much on neutral field opening games even if it was played in Big Orange Country. I am very very very surprised our defense gave up that many yards passing...then again we were short a couple of db's and our db coach. I think their qb Johnson has an outside shot at playing on Sunday next year. Still we have got to tighten the ship with the Sooners coming to town.

I am a golfer and so is he. We have played a lot of great courses together on business trips and vacations together with our family. I've played Southern Hills a couple of times. At this point in my life, I play courses that allows me to score in the low 80's rather than in the mid 90's, or in the case of Southern Hills the high 90's. LOL

Jake, are your DBs going to be ready for OU? What was the deal with your DB coach?

Those are fun bets that really mean more than small cash bets. A week!! Pretty gutsy, fitty.

More like stupid on my part.
No one is going to rag on a guy that goes around 260 lbs, no matter what he's wearing, but me and my 180 lbs., OMG, those steelworker union guys? Brutal!

Our db coach was suspended by Butch for "improper contact" with a recruit...it was reported and all is ok. He will be back on the sidelines next week. One db will be back but not for OU...the other is lost for the season.

Say Jake, did you have the pleasure of seeing the Vol fan get the textbook clothesline job from security? (he ran out onto the field during a rain delay)

You guys play hardball on the law and order thing!

Well...one thing I don't think the Vols have to worry about is OU players dropping down and playing dead to draw an official timeout...LOL :D

I swear...crap like this is absolutely comical....:D:D

Oddsmakers have OU a 1 point favorite...

After having seen both the OU and UT games this weekend, a one-point spread sounds reasonable. This one's gonna be a slobber-knocking, nail-biter! Something tells me it may not be a high-scoring game. I'm thinking the winner scores no more than 28 points.

I am expecting a rockem sockem hardnosed football game...already getting goosebumps thinking about the Vols running out of the "T" in what may be the biggest non conference regular season game in the history of the program. The only game that comes close was the 72 Penn State game...first night game in Vol history. I was there for that one and will be there Saturday night for this one. I just hope this young team doesn't get caught up in the hype. Remember many of our kids were playing hs rivalry games last year at this time.

I can't go quite as far saying this is the biggest Non-conf game in our history. We've played a lot of high profile OOC games. It's our tradition. This would be a big win but we're still building. A loss isn't the end all. Next season is when most expect us to make the Leap.

But it is a big game. No question.

The same thing could be said for the Sooners. We have 4 seniors starting on offense and 3 on defense. If no one leaves early, we should be in the hunt next year assuming Baker Mayfield and the new offense is as anticipated. It's the early departures schools have that can keep a team from realizing its potential. I hate that.

Joe...many in the sports media are calling it UT's biggest non conference regular season game in the last 50 years...of course we all know how some in media like to distort and hype. With the state our program has been in I believe it is our biggest ever...

This is exactly what I mean. A loss isn't a death knell for either program. It would mean more for us to win it than for you guys I believe. But a long season to go for both teams regardless of how the game ends.

Well, I know that being on the losing end of the game is going to smart regardless if you are a Volunteer and a Sooner. Pride.... you know what I mean. Comes with the territory.
