I am being optimistic as Witcraft could lose to Skudlarczyk and Hone could lose to Blockhus. Lujan could get bonus at 184 but I like the way Montalvo is wrestling now.

Holschlag is a 2018 AA but he lost to Alan Clothier Friday night 4-0. Clothier lost to Montalvo 6-3 at 184 so I am not sure he is ready to wrestle.

I watched that match and no he's not ready yet to compete at a high level injury after injury for him. That being said he might still get the nod against Geer

UNI has been talking this match up for some time. Seems to be a goal for them to upset us this year. Don’t see it happening but look for them to be a little extra fired up tonight.

That was the worst that I've seen Picc wrestle this year. Riden half the 2nd, the entire 3rd.

This dual is going to be closer then folks think. Reece has some upside, but he's a year away from making any serious noise.

Looks like bonus points are likely to decide this. Correction....We’re going to get rolled by Northern Iowa /(

Why would Sheets cut him? He was going to erase rt, one more stall call he wins, worse case sv get the td then. :(

Outside of Picc and Boo, this current lineup lacks high end quality wrestlers. Geer at 184 fits the category, but not at 197. If healthy, there's about 4 maybe 5 AA potential wrestlers in Picc, Boo, Maybe Joe, Gfeller, Wittake, and Geer (184).

Jo Jo opponent is a returning AA in his defense. With that said, his performance isn't all that surprising.

Only bright spots were Boo who is cementing himself as a high end AA/NC contender and Witlake continuing to look like a FR who will be contending for an AA spot.

Other than that I hope we hear we worked them hard this morning or Friday before they left... yuck

Joe should just quit. It’s pathetic.. He was way slow, way weak, way everything bad. You can see, like last year, he knows the move to do and can’t do it. He looks like he should drop another weight he’s so soft. We all have a pretty good idea what is going on. And now I’m hearing G may be going down a similar road, thanks in large part to Gollowenski who is supposedly a really bad apple. Parents talk.

How do we not have a competent heavy on campus ready to compete. And don’t give me the Purdue story. We should have had one we recruited. When as our last real competent heavy? Not a bulk job.

Thank goodness our young ones look good with help on the way.

Tonight we are wrestling consistent. Consistently poor. Coach Smith has this team horribly prepared for this dual. I'm pretty sure we are going to lose this dual to UNI.
The Sheets match was the killer where it appeared we should have won but we didn't. There seemed like Wyatt had many opportunities to score and just found a way not to score. Joe Smith should not have wrestled he seems like a broken young man even before the match started ( he didn't seem to have anything). I remember watching him in his true freshman year with so much talent and also so mentally tough. You can not wrestle without confidence and motivation. Lots of people here are angry at him but I feel many factors are involved in what we saw with Joe tonight. You see what confidence means with Witcraft. In the second period I said to my wife he will find a way to lose this match. Conclusion " a sad night in the history of Cowboy wrestling".

Welp, that was ugly. Sheets losing to a backup 149 pounder with a losing record killed us. Boo wrestled well against a very tough opponent. Wittlake continues to impress. Montalvo did as well as could be expected. Joe drew a tough opponent for his first match back, but the match was over after the first minute. At some point, you have to think the team would be better if Montalvo and Geer each dropped a weight. Joe has the talent, but he has not shown the desire the last two years. Put the guys in that want to wrestle and make the effort.

As bad as we looked tonight, I expect another losing effort tomorrow. Maybe they will surprise me.
