How good is their defense? Better than UT? Will they be able to stop our run game?

Yeah, as I said, we know they will score. The question is, can they stop us?

They will stop us enough. I'm not really sure where you are going with this. WE are going to lose and lose big to UL.

Exactly we will move the ball enough to score some.

But we aren't stopping them at all.

Technically it's over before it starts.

Please don't start the we're going to beat U of L posts. If Jackson plays there is no way we will win.We haven't beat a team with a winning record. Please just STFU. After the loss you can start with We're going to be so much better next year, I see 9-10 wins. It never changes.

UofL will beat us 63-35 or something like that.

I think this is the most likely outcome.

However, Duke and UVA were able to make close games against them by controlling the ball. LAMAR seems to be something of a "rhythm" QB. And he's always in one. Try to keep him out of one and pray.

UofL is 8th in Total Defense and haven't given up a 100 rushing in our last 5 games. I don't expect to hold UK that low. I think they key for UofL is to get by about 21 and make U.K. Beat us through the air.

UK will need a passing game against UL. Otherwise, UL will load the box to stop the run. While UL struggled offensively against Duke, VA and WF, they held Duke, VA and WF to 110, 84 and 73 yards rushing respectively.

So that's what everybody said when they played Duke and UVA. UK can compete with UL if those 2 teams can. It's a rivalry game and anything can happen. Why don't UK fans let the games be played before giving up.
It's a game that UK football fans have come to play with themselves. They are so tired of disappointment that they write off any chance of victory whenever it is anything other than assured. Hell, some poor sod started a thread that suggested we might lose to 0-10 FCS Austin Peay. Are we likely to beat U of L? I don't think I have to answer that. Do I expect us to get run? No. Do we have a shot? Yes. The same offense that hung 400 rushing yds on UT might just decide to score TDs instead of FGs, and who knows, maybe some of our wideouts might just come up clutch for a change. Hopefully, our kids on D are healed. We can do it. I'll die laughing at a lot of you if we do.

I'd be perfectly happy if you laugh your *** off if we beat UL. I'll happily eat crow. But we will NOT beat UL. I hate it but it's the way things are at this time.

Kentucky will score some points, just not enough. Very similar to the UT game really. Unless someone can kidnap Lamar Jackson and replace him with the Lamar Jackson that lives at 38th and Greenwood, is 40 years old and drives a Bee Courier car, UL will outscore us easily

Louisville has a top 10 defense. It will be similar to the UT game in that I think we will be able to run on them between the 20's, it our inability to pass the ball in the red zone will once again leave us settling for field goals, and that's assuming we don't fumble the ball inside the 10 yard line which we are good for at least once a game it seems like. We won't win once again trading touchdowns for field goals.

Hate to comment on UofL v. UK threads. But ....
As to the OP's question about UofL's defense, it is better than UT and closer to Bama. That is a legitimate comparison. And it will likely have two of its NFL-caliber DB's back from injury by game time. I watch both teams religiously and believe that UofL's defense is subject to giving up drives where most of the plays come in 3-4 yard chunks. So UK has a chance to get some points with the Wildcat and a few dink passes and screens but it will probably be like every other offense that it faced this season -- drives and scoring will be scarce/limited.
OP didn't ask about UofL's offense but everyone already seems to know the answer to that question.

They will score 80 or more if Bobby lets them.
If that's the truth, then don't worry about Bobby stopping them...

I see UK playing a close game and maybe winning... Wake Forrest isn't and these other teams aren't world beaters... UL will be sky high for this game, but the cats will too...

We can play better defense than we did against UT and I think that will happen...

20% chance it's close and we have a shot to win.
40% chance they win and it's not really in doubt.
40% chance we get our pants blown off

They're the 2nd best team on our schedule with the type of offense we have never shown we can defend. Every possession we don't score on is going to build deficit, so we're going to have to be perfect on offense to keep it close. Base your opinion on this game on how likely you think that is.

The 2nd best overall defense UK has played this year. But something to give UK a reason to be optimistic about is Grantham has never been very good at stopping the run. Bama ran the same play on us in the SEC championship game the entire 2nd half for over 300 yards rushing, in that half, and when we played them in the bowl game they couldn't stop the run against us.with a qb who couldn't throw any better than Johnson.

Not really sure why everyone thinks this will be a blowout. If they beat Houston Thursday night. They will be under the most intense pressure in program history. Here we come with our monster running game and nothing to lose. We can get up on them, like we did last year. They will be chasing us. We can run on them. maybe not 400+ yards but we can score on them. As long as they don't jump on us. The winner will HAVE to get into the 40's, no question.

Not sure many realize that this will be the best team we have had since Petrino has been there and probably their best team but I'm telling you, don't discount the immense pressure they will be if all they have to do is win and they are in the final 4. How sweet would it be?? HOW SWEET WOULD IT BE??
