Ole Bobby Stoops, I think we should keep him really...

Bob's had an incredible run up till now. And looks like his changes the next few years he is setting the foundation to make another big time run like he did in the early-to-mid 2000's when OU was premier program in the country. Great days I feel are ahead for OU football!!

I agree..as I said last year a head coach is only as good as his assistants. Really impressed with the new hires

Yeah, even Tim Kish looks like he knows what he is doing.
Maybe last year Kish was handling too much with the entire LB corp. This year he only has to worry about the inside LB corp. So his work effectively got cut in half. I think that smaller workload has worked out well for him. lol :D

Maybe this "less that pumper postive" post will even things out for K2C. lol ;)

Really hope Bob Stoops brings the same demeanor to the rest of the season that he showed on the sidelines vs Baylor. Red faced, screaming at refs, chewing out players, encouraging, etc. too me that's what has been missing the last couple of seasons.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I also noticed during the game just how fired up Bob was. I think that just illustrates how badly Bob wanted to take down Baylor this year. And as a fan, it felt great to see our coach showing that he still has the fire to win. You want your coach to have that competitive fire and desire to keep winning. No doubt what we saw the other night, Bob still has plenty of fire left!!

Kish always knew what he was doing. But he was coaching true freshmen. His outside linebacker excelled, but nobody gave him credit for that. Kish is a terrific linebacker coach. You'll come around eventually, if all the junk written about him here, doesn't help to ruin his credibility with recruits.

Again, your knowledge and rapier wit cuts through the prevailing guano like an armor piercing .223 round through 10 pounds of ballistics gelatin.
Have mercy...

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment Plaino, complete with smiley emoticon. Don't be so dead serious all the time.

I seriously doubt recruits are making their decision based on this board lol. Even last year kish was rarely mentioned and the least of our concerns. Our lb's aren't great but they have improved. Our whole team is playing with confidence

Odd, I've never seen too many games where that didn't happen.

I don't know this year may be a fluke.... :p It is so funny reading the post from the most critical detractors of this coaching staff including Bob. Take a hike boys you aren't true fans.... I never wavered in fact stood by Mike even when he struggled last year.

I believe this team would be doing just as well this year without Mike being there at all this season. Actually, even Bob could be gone. Thankfully we have Blake Mayfield and some new coaches that have made a profound difference..just sayin.

Yep. A head coach is only as good as assistants and Bob made the necessary changes the last couple of years. Some moved on but others were fired. I'm really impressed with the coaches, especially Riley

You don't watch football if you believe Mike isn't the difference.... Btw Mike has the Broyles award wrapped up already

Let's see....13 posts, we don't need Coach Mike OR Coach Bob Stoops, and our QB is named "Blake" Mayfield. I smell a poser.

We aren't hiring better than Bob Stoops. I don't care what anyone says. Michigan, Nebraska, Miami, USC, etc. countless others think it's "easy" to hire the right guy. It's not that easy. We hit the gold mine with Bob. Sure I wish he would have won a few more national titles but to argue what he's done with this program from Day 1 is crazy.

We have to play LSU in the Sugar Bowl with a weak armed Jason White.
We have to play Florida in the Orange Bowl without DeMarco Murray.

What if, what if? Sure.

We are tremedously lucky to have that guy leading us all these years.

Only fools fire their winningest head coaches. Firing a head coach like Stoops or Brown for a couple of down years will put a program in the hands of a much lower tier coach until that memory is gone for top tier candidates. See Texas.

I wondered how long it would take for Mr. Negativity to come along and attempt to derail this very positive thread.

When Sooner times are good - and they certainly are - and he reads the positive posts one after another in this thread, he seems to then crawl out from under his rock, feels safe enough, pumps out his chest and pounds on it like a message forum anthropoid, touts his fandom as if he is the only true loyalist here, and loathsomely attacks - like the official team protagonist he perceives himself to be - an imaginary individual or group team antagonist(s).

Well played dfw. There will be plenty of other future opportunities to do similarly to reconcile self-worth through Sooner success.

I see you don't mind living in a realm of absolutes judging by the 1st and 2nd sentences in your post. Seems absurd to me with ALL the talent out there. Are you kidding?

What about our own Mr. Gundy? I'm pretty impressed with Mr. Riley, too.

When it's Bob's time to retire, and assuming we continue recruiting and coaching well defensively, I'd prefer an offense-minded coach ala Briles to be his replacement.

I am a fan of Gundy and Riley and either might suit me just fine. There's dozens of similar talent out there, too.

ftworth...I "think" the context of the thread is replacing Coach Stoops versus filling his spot after he retires.
