Ole Miss and A & M- too many 3's.

Looking back at the Kansas game, Providence, and UNC our team didn't take so many 3's especially in the first half. In fact, remember there were a couple games where everyone worried that the 3 record might end because there were either not many 3's attempted, or many missed. So, all of a sudden in the past two games, the team is taking a bunch. Part of the problem of course is zone defenses and sagging in the middle. But, it also seems that our offense shifted from effort to have multiple big men in the paint to a guard oriented offense. Is this the tweak? It has minimized second chance offensive rebounds, and a lot of standing around. There have also been zero lobs. Plus, because of the guards holding the ball longer, when a big man gets the ball they take a bad angle to the basket or rush the shot.

Also, on defense, we have given up multiple drives to the baskets for easy lay-ups. It again seems like the team is trying to emphasize blocking shots more than position defense.

Both issues seem like relatively easily correctable. Right?

3 point shooting was fine when we were 11/20 against Ole Miss and like 6/14 at the half of this game. We slumped a bit in the 2nd halfs and OT obviously.

I disagree with you UKWildcats. Yes, the stats sound good but it still is going away from what was working which was a dominating team in the paint.

Gotta keep taking them. If we can keep putting up 35%+ games, it may make coaches re-think the zone. The best thing that could happen over the next few games is guys like Aaron and Booker to be dead-eyes. Then teams may need to man either of these guys or man our entire team. I'm not confident our bigs can handle the zone right now. We don't have a Cousins, AD, or Randle this year.

had plenty of chances to dominate the paint...but dakari and WCS decided to fumble every pass/move and today towns committed 5 turnovers. i guess we can keep doing that...but folks would probably complain oh i mean discuss about that as well.

Shot selection, ball movement and defensive intensity all are lacking right now.

disagree totally. 3 pt shooting is a huge stength of this team as Booker is one of , if not , the best in the land . Ulis is damn good . lyles is a good despite his #'s , Towns i trust to make them though he doesn't shoot them enough IMO. Aaron is Aaron , will have games where he goes 4-7 and games where he goes 2-7 but he is a good shooter . Andrew makes them but i do think he takes too many . WE have been shooting lights out from 3 since the UNC game and i don't think that will end . I want Booker to get 10 3's a game in our offense as he will make a minimum of 5 of those . I want Aaron getting 5 but IN THE OFFENSE. Ulis needs to get 1-3 a game as well. So no , while we need to work on our offense against the zone and shoot more mid range jumpers , our 3's are fine , really better then fine . I like games where we shoot 15-20 as long as they are good ones. In the 2nd half and OTs Aaron took some really suspect ones, as did Andrew. This is last year or 2013 . We are good shooters.

i think any team in this era of basketball really needs to make 6-8 threes per game. if you are going to make that many you are going to have to shoot 15-20 a game.

its not about shooting less or more threes...its about getting more shots. we need to force the tempo better, play faster. the press pretty much sucks and is useless. just about the only thing you can say about it is that is wears people down. but with 10 total team timeouts, TV timeouts, plus other stoppages....doubt its that big of a factor. we have to get it and go.

wish it was a 28 second shot clock. and zones were illegal. and refs werent retarded

Get used to it. Every team we play is going to play a sagging zone and hope that Booker and Aaron aren't able to shoot them out of it. If 5 1/2 years isn't long enough to learn that Cal isn't going to install a zone offense or tell his guards to stop taking shots, nothing is.

Imsee both sides. Actually the three ball, saved us the last two, games but it isn't what won games for us most of the OOC games
