Interesting ... I tried to find a box score, but couldn't locate one. It appears this was a "silent" scrimmage ... whatever that is.

I felt pretty good about our chances against Purdue next week before Friday. Definitely less optimistic now. No Lowe and we looked pretty rough offensively. We'll have a much better idea this time next week what we have.

Pre season games are absolutely meaningless. After a while you play the scrubs and maybe even managers or at least you should. It’s not worth losing a guy who is so competitive that he goes in a scrimmage vs Purdue as hard as a regular season game.

The outcome is meaningless, yes, but the ability to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses is very meaningful … especially against good competition.

Well. Best of luck to him. 4 for 5 from three sure doesn’t sound bad.

But I tell you what. I saw him play here all year last year. An awful lot of his actual floor time I watched him play live from a seat in Rupp. I was one of his biggest fans, swearing a lot longer than most if not all of the rest of you that he was going to turn the corner last year: his status as all-time KY high school scorer guaranteed it. Still don’t dislike him.

But if I were in Beard’s fanbase right now. Hearing our coach say “We need him to have the best year he’s ever had playing basketball for our team to do what we all would like to do in Oxford.” Well. I’d be scared.

I wish he had stayed and developed at UK, but I can understand why he didn't. Wish no bad things for him (physical, development or otherwise). However, I am not sure he can develop enough quickness to be a major contributor on the offensive end of the court while also not being a significant liability on the defensive end of the court. He may prove me wrong, but he has a long way to go.

Yeah I expect him to be a little more useful there as a sophomore just like he would have been a little more useful here as a sophomore. As a low- to mid-level contributor he’s fine. As your best player which is what that article quotes his teammates as saying he’s just not what you want unless he’s really just made the biggest year-on-year improvement of anyone in the whole history of basketball.

Exactly, they are hyping him up like he will be a top level starter in this league. He would have to have made some considerable improvement in one year. His entire effectiveness will be determined on defense where he was a liability for sure.

Man, that's the thing. Didn't have the handles to play PG. Doesn't have the size to play the wing. Doesn't have the lateral quickness to defend the point. Doesn't have the size or strength to defend the wing. What I see in TP has always, ALWAYS been Richie. Make no mistake, I freaking loved Richie, but he was limited. I think TP's best shot at being really good is to develop the handles to play true point. He has the intangibles. He'd be one of the better shooting true PGs in college basketball eventually. I think he's smart enough to learn how to get by with limited athleticism defensively. But man, you just can't hide not being able to take care of the ball.

That and he can’t make himself bigger. His genes are the one thing keeping him from being a certified top level college player.

Agree. My only complaint was how he and his family kept taking shots. Go get your money and minutes, but dont burn bridges.

Just my wag but in guessing he is playing sg. His size dictates he should be a pg but he just struggled vs any pressure whatsoever. Im guessing all that effort guarding and bringing up the ball probably got into his legs and was why he struggled shooting in game.

I think by his senior year he will be a pretty good college player. He’s a basketball player. His handles will improve and he will get a little strength and quickness maybe. Don’t expect him to be a star but definitely a solid contributor eventually. Terry Pravis could have been a legend here with Noah.
