I always wanted to ask , what part of WV are you in ?At present, the top line looks like Teddy P, Corcoran, Hixson, Bando and Benhart. Talk about Anthony as a swing backup at tackle and guard.
I know Frost was not happy with the way the previous offensive line coach taught technique and schemes. And yet... he never fired him until he was basically forced to. Is that stubbornness or loyalty or both? I will tell you what it is: career suicide. But my deeper point is to simply agree with your post here. These were two guys we were all thrilled to have in the fold. And they have both underperformed in a big way. Perhaps Corcoran was playing the wrong position? At any rate, we can all hope that the new coach has them playing up to their potential.Corcoran and Benhart were high 4* players and highly recruited, but yet both haven’t played up to their great expectations..
It‘s time they make significant improvement their Sophomore year..
I’m curious if Keith Williams will be in the mix.At present, the top line looks like Teddy P, Corcoran, Hixson, Bando and Benhart. Talk about Anthony as a swing backup at tackle and guard.
You was pretty upset frost wasn’t fired last year and a few of us asked you to let’s see how it plays out, trust trev. I’m starting to get this gut feeling that were going to suck again, for the sake of the new coaches I hope I’m wrong as for frost he needs to freaking grow up swallow some pride and stop pouting anyway thats what I get from watching himI know Frost was not happy with the way the previous offensive line coach taught technique and schemes. Yes, I thought Frost should have been fired right after we lost our opening game to freaking Illinois in a game that was a testament to how many mistakes one team can make. It was clear to me that it was keystone cops all over again. And I continue to think he should have been fired. You was pretty upset frost wasn’t fired last year and a few of us asked you to let’s see how it plays out, trust trev. It's funny. I remember once upon a time that Greg Austin was considered an upcoming OL coach. But then he never produced or impressed under Frost.I know Frost was not happy with the way the previous offensive line coach taught technique and schemes. Corcoran is young as hell. Give a guy time. Last true stud that young I remember was Fonoti. And that was because he was an actual mountain.Corcoran and Benhart were high 4* players and highly recruited, but yet both haven’t played up to their great expectations..

Quick feet may be the hardest thing to coach in an offensive lineman.if benhardt hasn't fixed his cement feet he needs to be moved to rg and get someone quicker than me to play tackle
Who knows? If the team goes 8-4 this year, with the way this current staff recruits, Frost could be around here for a long time.Yes, I thought Frost should have been fired right after we lost our opening game to freaking Illinois in a game that was a testament to how many mistakes one team can make. However, all that said, and not wanting to derail the OP's main point, there are new coaches and I like them. And if Raiola can get our offensive line playing well, then it will go a long, long way towards improving our record.
Our 2023 recruiting class is currently ranked 40th by Rivals.Who knows? If the team goes 8-4 this year, with the way this current staff recruits, Frost could be around here for a long time.
true, but you cant just bury your head in the sand and pretend it's not a big problemQuick feet may be the hardest thing to coach in an offensive lineman.
I actually think benhart put on bad weight last year, one reason he had trouble moving latterly. JmoQuick feet may be the hardest thing to coach in an offensive lineman.
That is exactly what scares the hell out of me.Who knows? If the team goes 8-4 this year, with the way this current staff recruits, Frost could be around here for a long time.
Is that first in the west though? Our 2023 recruiting class is currently ranked 40th by Rivals.
IF NU could go 8-4 this year, (I already predicted pre-fall camp 6-6 or 7-5), I would expect a helluva recruiting class before the 2023 class is finished. NU has to take advantage of Mickey plucking kids out of Louisiana before he becomes more of a forgotten man back there. Our 2023 recruiting class is currently ranked 40th by Rivals.
Who considered him an up and coming OL coach? It's funny. I remember once upon a time that Greg Austin was considered an upcoming OL coach. But then he never produced or impressed under Frost.
If we go 8-4 this year it will be a top 25 class. Our 2023 recruiting class is currently ranked 40th by Rivals.
If we win games (8) we will move up into the top 20 in recruiting. Coleman in October will move us into top 30..Our 2023 recruiting class is currently ranked 40th by Rivals.
I'll say the "media". Everyone blames the media including people in the media who won't actually admit they are in the media.Who considered him an up and coming OL coach?
If you aren't loaded with star lineman. It may not be such a bad thing to have a couple 5th or 6th year 23 year old guys in the offensive line. Bando and Hixson may surprise us this year.At present, the top line looks like Teddy P, Corcoran, Hixson, Bando and Benhart. Talk about Anthony as a swing backup at tackle and guard.
picked up a lot in that interview that Sean C did with the 4 lineman. Teddy seems to be a true leader And Corcoran seems to be the guy you don’t want to piss off.
Bando made a comment about telling younger guys the have to hit the weight room and can’t be just a fat guy for 4 years. Corcoran’s reaction was too much. Seemed to read like “Broc you should know”. Though I think Bando finally got in good weight.
Also loved how they talked about DR carrying more about knocking a guys *** backwards vs the technique that was used. The has driven me crazy under Coach KW and Cav. I remember we had players under Cav that would say their focus was how Coach Cav would grade them from game tape on Monday vs actually how the played one Saturday.
Also remember under Cav we had a guy who got beat up pretty badly one game but Cav and the O-line came to his defense and said he actally grade the best out of the O-line and how we fans didn’t see the value in his technique. Well what we saw was the kid being used like a rag doll. He may have had the proper technique in doing so but who gives a F.
they say there are two types of leaders. Ones that are outcome oriented and process oriented. Seems like we’ve had a lot process O-line coaches lately, will be nice to have an outcomes oriented one for a change. And for those not following, think about this, say your an O-lineman and coverage has broken down and you know a way to fix it but coach will be pissed because its not his technique. Do we want a guy whose going to look at that and say “well, ideally I’d like you to be able to get it done the way I teach but ultimately you got the job done, so good going” or one that will say “I don’t give a F that you knocked the defender on his ***, you didn’t do it as instructed“. that’s when guys start only doing it as instructecd even though their instincts are telling them different.
bottom line is I think the o-line will be nasty this season. Don’t be shocked if Benhart comes around not having to worry about is he doing everything Coach taught him .
it’s WR I most worry about
Great post, Yantzeee. Especially the part about process & outcome. I've got two things to say about Benhart. In watching him play, it did look like he was too mechanical and "in his head" about trying to do things a certain way. He could certainly turn things around, but he'll have to get his confidence back. The second thing about Benhart is that he didn't quit. I think a lot of us expected him to transfer, but he's stuck it out. That's a good trait to have in an athlete.bottom line is I think the o-line will be nasty this season. This reminds me of Verduzco also. All process- no product.picked up a lot in that interview that Sean C did with the 4 lineman. Teddy seems to be a true leader And Corcoran seems to be the guy you don’t want to piss off.

Corcoran will be fine. He was thrust in as a frosh last season. Linemen need time to develop. Benhart I’m not “as” sold on but he could turn out fine as well. The question is, is Teddy 100%? Another question is, will the new coaching turn Corcoran and Benhart into at least serviceable linemen, or will they continue to be the weakest link on the entire team?
I agree with most everything you posted but I feel the WR group will flourish under Joseph. You have to remember who was coaching our WR group the past couple of years, Lubick with Frost's help. Our wr's did great despite not having solid coaching for an important group for our offense.picked up a lot in that interview that Sean C did with the 4 lineman. Teddy seems to be a true leader And Corcoran seems to be the guy you don’t want to piss off.
