So far the Olympics for 2020 are now scheduled for July 23-Aug 8 2021. I believe I read somewhere that they are not allowing spectators just athletes and support people. No fans can come with. I wonder if somewhere along the line they change that if folks produce a vaccine visa/passport. I hope they do and I hope the Olympics are not once again cancelled. It would seem that these athletes should be immunized prior to going as well.

I have always looked forward to the Olympics every 4 years (Now every 2 with alternating winter and summer schedules).

all I care about is that USA wins every event. The Olympics are my favorite sporting event. And it isn't even close. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to be standing on the podium with a gold medal hearing "The Star Spangled Banner" being played.

I can't wait. I treat the Olympics kinda of how I treat the NCAAT.. a reason to go to the bar and watch sports at 2pm.

But it is fun to just watch people compete at ****. More of a winter Olympics fan, unsurprisingly.. but still love the Summer.

I doubt they allow any fans.

Japan being an island country was able to control the virus much better by limiting travel and have one of the lower per # of cases, but because of that they are one of the least vaccinated developed countries

So I doubt they'll let any type of tourists in.

Japan is going to lose a mountain of money on the Olympics, but then again, the games have grown to such an overwhelming extent that nearly every host country ends up with a major financial headache. Some have suggested Olympics begin to use some semi permanent rotating hosts, e.g.. LA, Moscow, London, etc., that already have large stadiums and plenty of hotel room so that the financial burden does not fall on John Q Public in some random country just trying for the prestige of hosting the Olympics.

I think they should postpone the Olympics until 2028...when Covid 37 and the Mars strain are fully eradicated.

Seven years to flatten the curve!!!
If it just saves one life it is worth it!!!

Not looking forward to watching national anthem kneelers. I really hope that doesn't happen.

You think you should have to show medical records to get in to a sporting event?

I am about ready to bring my vaccine card to the next UK baseball game so I don't have to wear a mask. Outdoors and 20% capacity and fully vaccinated + more than two weeks since last shot would seem to indicate that I am capable of accepting the minuscule risk of some kind of infection.

So do you think I should have to show my medical records to get into a sporting event?

No but, they are already considering having to show a vaccine passport to do business with businesses here that require it so, I was thinking maybe they will require the same for the Olympics. Not in favor of it was just thinking that they could do it instead of not allowing fans in. However, someone else stated that they refunded over 900,000 tickets already so, that idea is out.

I predict the mask thing is gonna die quick and medical records (aka Papers), because at the end of the day, it's all about revenue. And if a sport in one state makes you wear a mask, then the other state will profit. If Target indeed makes people wear masks after this is all over, people will start going to Walmart or a place that doesn't.

Once some things are truly "opened up", others will have no choice but to follow.

I've barely ever watched the Olympics (I barely even watched the Dream Team) and I don't know much about it or its history. I'll probably check it out this year though, since it's a historic Olympics and because I'm going to be hanging out with some friends a lot this summer who watch.
