What a great birthday gift the 'Cats gave me last night. Great atmosphere at the game. Wife and kids up in the rafters with me watching perhaps the best game I have seen the team play in my 29 years of paying attention.

Declarative - Dererk Pardon is being treated UNFAIRLY by the Big Ten conference stats keepers!

Issue - I presume there is a "minimum games played" requirement for the Big Ten to qualify someone for a "stat per game" calculation. OK. I get it. A walk-on who only played against Wheaton and blocked 4 shots, should not permanently reside atop the stats list at 4.0 blocks per game. But what about Dererk Pardon? The Big Ten lists the top 18 players in blocks per game. See list here...

I assume Dererk's 11 games played means he misses the cut-off. But, is that fair? He has blocked 30 shots...only 5 players in the conference have more. That is good for 2.73 blocks per game, which would comfortably good for 3rd in the league. Even if you ascribed 0 blocks to Mr. Pardon for ALL the games the 'Cats missed, Dererk would still be 7th on the per game list. It just doesn't seem fair that he is not allowed on the list. What do you guys think??

I think if he stay healthy and plays the rest of the season he will be among the leaders. Can't get too worked up over stat leaders only 1/3 of the way through the Big 10 season.....

For what it's worth, MLB calculates the batting champ as you suggest. A player can be short of the 502 plate appearance minimum, but, if that player can go 0-for on the missing plate appearances, he can be declared the batting champ (at the 'undiscounted' rate, I think).

Make some calls, Dugan. This is important.

Collins should have put him in at the end of each game when he was injured so that the games counted!!!!!

1) not sure it's unfair, but I do like your righteous indignation on his behalf
2) i was kinda shocked that 2.7 blocks pg is 3rd in the conference, that's impressive by Lynch and Watkins
3) saw in the block rankings that there is yet another athlete named Justin Jackson on Md, to go with the wing on UNC and our favorite Wildcat running back, a great name but a random coincidence
