One thing I think most UK fans agree on....

It's time for Mitch to go.

We sat around and saw a decade of UK basketball dropping every year... AND it would have continued due to the contracts he gave out if Cal did not bow out!!

On top of that, football was similar situation. Having to lay 38 Million to a sub .500 coach deep in his tenure is comical. I still think that if we dont get blown out last 2 games... MS is still here.

Next was hiring if Mark Pope. Like others on here, I like Coach Pope... he played while I was at Grad School at UK... however, did any of us honestly have him high on coaching list when Drew/Hurley passed??? I thought someone like Sean Miller was our floor?? How some of the names mentioned on these boards did not seem to get consideration is really scary!! We hired an alum that had never won a postseason NCAA game to the winning program in NCAA history??

Now add on NIL and the AD handling of this over last 3 years?? The whole thing seems like a total CLOSTER****.

Result is, leadership simply needs to change for the Athletic Dept at UK. I admire Mr Barnhart as a person and his contributions.... he simply needs to jump out of the plane on his golden parachute and not look back before we are too deep in this **it to dig out...

He is going.
He’s set to retire soon. They’re not going to fire him before he retires even though he’s deserved it for years.

the problem is the replacement. There absoloutly nothing to indicate we will try to get a good AD. They’ll simply slide in his right hand man and it’ll just continue the trend of the same old stuff.

in other words Mitch is done anyways but it’s the next hire that matters anyways

Agree that he is NOT the right person for the current moment in collegiate sports. Getting the right person to replace him is critical, and the sooner the better.

I think this is my stance and the transition is already happening. The GM that the football team is hiring, is essentially now their AD. They will still work with the board and AD on acquiring funds, but they will decide how to spend it. Look at Luck in Stanford, he is a making all decisions

If for nothing else.. we just havent been competitive in football or basketball, with the exception of 1-2 years of football and Cal's recruiting strategy/troubles with Memphis...

For that alone you need to make a change. We are too stagnant, not enough is being done.
