One year ago today, these 2, along with Reeves never won another game in a Kentucky uniform, thanks to poor coaching.
And bad defensive play. That team could not stop a straight-line drive. Guard penetration just killed that team.
Along with National Best Freshman of the Year and Runner-up, didn’t Reed and Rob also win some “Best Bench-Warmers” awards?

Cal's last 10 years should officially be called the "What-If Decade."
Their KenPom defensive rating was an awful 109, but surprisingly Alabama's was even worse at 111, and they still made a Final Four.
Shep and Rob played like true frosh at tourney time. Their coach seemed to as well.
I have 10 buddies that I go to Lake Tahoe with every March madness. We have been doing it for 20 years.
Let’s just say the last 6 years have sucked not making it out of the first weekend!
Last year, at halftime of the Oakland game, I left the Harveys Casino Sportsbook room where we were watching the game with hundreds of other people, and just walked the streets. I could tell by the way we were playing and the look of panic setting in on Cal that we were losing again in the first round.
I hate him for what he turned March into for us fans the last 5-6 years.

Sheppard, Dillingham & Reeves to go along with Justin Edwards who is now in the starting lineup for the Philadelphia 76ers & this team loses in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament to that basketball blueblood, juggernaut known as Oakland. Besides our 9-16 season I don't see how it could have gotten any worse.
I remember blank staring at the TV after the final buzzer against Oakland telling myself there’s no way that it just happened again. Even had to pinch myself to see if it was reality.
It makes me sick when I look at all the talent and not 1 Final 4…just pathetic

Team was poorly coached and played no defense. Also too reliant on freshmen and not the dominant type. Reed and Dilly were solid but not wall or cousins or towns or ad or mkg or fox or Monk or Bam team levels. We couldn't afford Bradshaw, edwards and Wagner to all be busts and 2 clearly were and Wagner was mediocre at best.
The last 10 seasons did include the 2015 final four team and very good seasons n 2017 and 2019. 3 out of 10 seasons of very good isn't enough here though and not sustainable. Neither was 4 final fours n 5 seasons either early on. I doubt we ever make 4 final fours in 5 seasons again. Cal is the case study of the highest highs and lowest lows as a coach.

The insanity of this still blows my mind. I don't care if we are ranked 200 in DefOff, that team should have beat Oakland by 30 on offensive ability alone. So sickening.
Yup you and me both. I did the same thing. Just walking around hoping we somehow had a miracle in us. Man Cal choked so hard the last 5 years. I’ll never forget the look on his face everytime a team drilled a 3 and he had no idea what to do.
The last few teams seemed to “pucker up” just like their coach .
I can hardly believe it’s been 10 full years since our 38-1 team of 2014-15. And our most recent Final Four….
Ten years ago, UK beat Florida to go 31-0 on March 7. Gator fans doing the Gator Chomp in front of me at Rupp were annoying. Until UK pulled away.
Everyone focuses on Gohlke but Trey Townsend owned the paint in that game.
We didn't defend the post or perimeter in that game.
It makes no sense how UK lost the game but I'll have to say it makes more sense now that it did at the time after watching Reed and Rob's rookie seasons, Bradshaw's soph season and Ugo's junior season at K- State.
We should have won easy but our talent was overrated.
Wow on the Justin Edwards update. I could look it up but I’d like your take if you’ll give it. How in the world did he become a starting pro in the nba and how in the world did cow do so poorly with another a starting pro in the nba?
There was seemingly no attempt to teach that team to play defense. He fixed atrocious beginning of the season defenses in the 2017 and 2019 seasons and made those teams contenders. From 2020 forward, it was ignored. Guards on roller skates, poorly timed help defense, complete inability to defend basic pick and roll.
Now at Arkansas he’s coaching defense again and it has turned their season around.
