Is it nice to know that we don't have a monopoly on whiny entitled fans, or is it depressing that this is what so many people have become?
At Marshall they lost the second game 21-20 to a team that basically just moved up from 1 AA to 1 A ( or whatever it’s called) the coach is new. You would have thought they found him w a goat

Oregon is the first test but I’m confident the Nits win in a great game. Watched Ore vs. NW and they’re good but not super. They play their civil war this weekend then travel east for the white out! They’ll be very vulnerable and PSU has a bye. I expect nothing less.

Sidebar thought — I really wish they would just go back to I-A and I-AA. Anyone who has followed this game for a while still thinks of it that way and has to mentally translate FBS and FCS anyway.

“Bowl Subdivision” and “Championship Subdivision” was on a naming quality par with “Legends and Leaders” from the very start… and is especially meaningless now that FBS also has a sizeable playoff and supposedly a “true” championship as well.

Amirite?

You should hear the Texas fan meltdown that's happening in Austin. Fan is short for fanatic.

Well, good point… if something that seems inexplicable is being inexplicably sustained, money can often provide the explanation.

Damned if I know how money would be tied to this particular situation (NOT going back to I-A and AA), but it wouldn’t be shocked to find out it is.

It has to do with the fact that the NCAA has nothing to do with the CFP and CFP Committee - 2014 to Present (or its forerunner "The BCS" 1998-2013). The NCAA runs the DIAA Playoff (just as they run all other NCAA Postseason Playoffs in all other NCAA sports at all other NCAA Divisions but DIA Football). It's the NCAA's way of rubbing the P4 Conference's nose in the fact that the NCAA has not sanctioned the CFP (or its forerunner the BCS), but does run the DIAA Playoff just as they run all other NCAA Championships at all other levels but DIA; hence, the change to Football Championship Subdivision ("FCS") and the Football Bowl Subdivision ("FBS") - the NCAA officially went to the new names in 2006.

Interesting… thanks for the explanation, I hadn’t pondered this angle.

And 2006, are you kidding me? I am too damn old and time is just flying. I had it in my head that the name change was only maybe 7 or 8 years old. Ah well, to me it will never be too late to go back to D I-A and AA and it still IS that in my head as I’ve said :)
