Figured this would happen after the way Denver used him last year. I love Peyton as much as any player not from the Bengals but osweiler was the better player last year. These guys don't care that Peyton is a legend.

Big gamble on the Texans part. $18 million/year for a guy who wasn't a stud in college, who has started all of 7 games and was benched for a 39-year old QB who couldn't throw the ball across the street (I know it was Peyton Manning but only a shell of HOF'er Peyton Manning remained by the end of the season)? Texans are definitely married to the guy now. Guess they didn't see anyone worth moving up for in this draft and didn't want to wait 2-3 years to see if their rookie QB panned out. Of course, a guy who's only started 7 games isn't exactly seasoned, right? Could be Matt Flynn II (and the comparative stats are eerily similar, BTW). Can't wait to see/hear what the local media here in Houston have to say about this.

Big gamble. Texans are desperate for a qb and this is a weak qb draft. They really don't have much of a choice.

Would Denver be wise to look at RGIII? Or maybe even Tebow.....

Denver lost both QB, Malik Jackson, Danny Trevathan and they are on the verge of losing C.J. Anderson...the balance of power in the AFC West is now in Kansas City and maybe Oakland...very good week for the Raiders.

He's getting $37 MM guaranteed, What was Denver offering?

Houston apparently offered $3/mil more per yr than Denver. Denver wanted a 3 yr, $45 mil.

As a Titan fan, if you look at Mettenberger's stats last yr, they are comparable to Osweiler this yr. Granted that Denver was a much, much better team. If I were the Titans I would see what draft picks someone is willing to give up for him.

Plus, no state income tax in Texas and no additional income taxes from 10 of the 16 opponents on Houston's schedule this year. That will save him quite a bit of money.

I have been surprised at the lack of Mettenberger's name floating around. Tennessee is obviously going to start Mariota but Mettenberger has a cannon, has started some games in the NFL and done OK. Not sure why no one's interested unless the Titans are asking for a fortune.

That would be a short analysis. He might draw a couple of 10th round draft picks in the 2030 draft from the London Monarchs

lol, yeah right. They could probably get back their 6th rd pick anytime they want to.....by a number of teams. The issue is that he's worth more as a back-up and future potential than a 6th rd pick. But if there is a team out there desperate enough out there to pay Osweiler more than Palmer, Smith, Luck, Brady, etc......almost top 10 money......maybe they'd be desperate enough to give a 3rd rd pick?

He has lost every game he has started in the NFL...but to be fair the Titans suck.

I think for the money difference this wasn't a smart decision. Denver is a quality franchise that's dedicated towards winning, while Houston has been the graveyard of quarterbacks for the past decade at least. DeAndre Hopkins is a stud and Ceicil shorts is becoming pretty good too so he will have some targets but I just think it's a bad move for Osweiler. He's was liked in Denver, had some success and would have been given a longer leash IMO. In Houston he'll be expected to lead the team to the playoffs from the getgo.

Anybody that would give a third round pick for that guy is not working in the league. Chances are they aren't working anywhere.

Well, at least 2 teams (one that just won the SB) offered a guy with similar stats, performance, and skill set $15 and $18 mil/yr......that's top 10-15 ranked in QB salaries.

So, it's not extremely out in left field to think that someone would spend a 3rd rd pick for a guy that's being paid $700k.

I'm not saying the offers are out there or that I think Mett is worth it (which I don't think he is).....what I am saying is that with such desperation out there I would certainly see what's out there.

Oswieler left the best defense in football based on last year. He may regret that later.

How about Lorenzen? Still got a good arm. Knock off about 200 lbs and the kid might have a shot!

very interested in Houston O now...

Osweiler 25 years old...Deandre Hopkins 23 years old...lamar miller 24 years old...all have shown flashes...all relatively young and about to hit the prime of their career...hard to tell for sure...but that could be a nice triple headed offense for the next 6-7...

...and they'll probably add another good WR and/or RB in the draft...will be in a position to draft Henry or Will Fuller in first round...either one of those guys would be great gets and could have big impacts immediately...

I'm not a Raider fan but I did pick up Carr in the 13th rd last yr in a modified keeper league.....so, I'm pretty pumped.

Question...in your league is a passing TD worth 6 or 4 points...either way he has thrown 53 TD passes his first 2 years in the NFL

All TDs are 6.....regardless of position. INTs are a -1.

Our keeper rules are a little different. You can keep up to 2 players. To keep a player you have to give up a draft pick 2 higher than where he was picked the yr before. For instance, Carr was a 13th rd pick last yr......so, I'll have to give up an 11th for him this yr. (undrafted free agents acquired during the yr are a 12th pick)

You got Carr for a steal...I'm a commissioner of a 24 team 2 Conference-(each Conference is 12 teams and it is a yearly league with both Conference with separate drafts)...looks like same scoring rules in regards to TD...for us it is every turnover is -2 points.
