Ajou played a couple of minutes in garbage time for Seton Hall against Villanova. For those who rue his transfer, and lament losing him leaves NU thin at the front line, CA just isn't a division I player. His story is a great one, and I hope he gets a degree. But man, what a project.

As an aside, the Halls best player, Gibbs, got thrown out of the game on a flagrant 2 foul. There was a loose ball on the floor and the Nova player, Gibbs and Ajou were fighting for it. During the scramble, Gibbs just threw a vicious elbow at the Nova player's forehead. Just a stupid play. Kind of shows why Sina chose to part ways with that team.

I don't think anyone was lamenting over his transfer. The "I got you babe" player just never had the time to understand the game.

Weren't you lamenting just last week that his and Turner's departures left a big gap on the team?

014, I think what Turk was correctly stating is that they were both recruited as "big men" and neither panned out. So yes losing those two recruits does hurt the current depth of this seasons squad, especially at the 5 as well as the 4. Don't you think?

Not sure either Turner or Ajou would have been good practice big men in prep for B1G competition, though. To this day, I'm amazed Ajou got D1 scholarship (twice!!). He was the perfect D3 guy for a school like MIT or Williams, where the school would have loved to have him, he would have gotten a top notch education, and gotten playing time. Don't see him ever playing quality minutes at SH, unless his improvement is extraordinary. Right now he has no lateral movement to speak of.

It's not losing those guys that hurt, so much as the fact that they were currently holding two big-men scholies with little chance to ever make an impact. Thus, we had a 6-6 Cerina playing backup center last season, and an Ivy graduate this season.

I didn't lament their departures, none of them was good. I did say that the fact that they departed, did change the team where CC's recruits had to fill the gap. And I also said the team was better off.

I'm not sure why we have to discuss this, I mean there were gaps and CC had to recruit to fill those gaps, yes? Kindly go over and review what was said, I don't think anyone blinked when Turner or Cher "I got you babe" Ajou departed. And as far as I can remember, nobody argued that we would have been better off if they stayed.

Both seemed to represent the weakness in BC recruiting of Bigs and both were projects. Sort of desperation recruiting. I thought that Cher Anjou was much more of a project than Turner (yet somehow he was rated as a three star probably just because he was over 7 ft) If Turner had been willing to take to coaching at another position, I thought he had a chance to have some value. But without that willingness, there was no place to play him. That said, their departure did leve holes in this years team that had to be filled with Frosh and a Grad transfer. Long term it helps as Skelly is likely the guy in Turner's spot and there is a chance for someone to take Anjou's spot that will have a bigger impact. But for this year, a forth year Tuner would likely have had more of an impact than Skelly as a Frosh and Anjou in his 3rd year would likely have been a reasonable player for extra 5 minutes. Just saying that this years team probably suffers from their departure but long term, we are probably better off.

Today I woke up and was just thinking, "Man wouldn't it be great to discuss Chier Ajou and Mike Turner today? I mean, sure, they've had nothing to do with the program for going on two years now, but I think they are an important topic to keep considering and rehashing with the same tired, useless speculation gleaned from old reports."

This is just to say: keep your head up kids, dreams do come true.

Mr. Self-righteous, there is nothing wrong with discussing them. They're part of the dilemma were now facing regarding lack of quality big men on the roster. Do you deny that? Heck, nobody forced you to contribute to the thread, yet you did...

You know, if you want to keep discussing guys who haven't been on the team for a couple of years and particularly in derogatory terms at least have the decency to spell his name correctly.

What did he say that was derogatory?

Eh, I'm not self-righteous, I'm just bored. I'm bored of people questioning the talent, work ethic, character, coachability, intelligence, etc. of people (I'll avoid using the term "kids") who literally have nothing to do with our program anymore.

We've already had a thread on this where it was pointed out that these two transfers thrust younger players into the spotlight and have necessitated perhaps picking up yet another grad transfer or big man recruit. That's all that really needs to be said about it. All this crap about willingness or unwillingness, love of basketball, whether someone should have not just 1 but 2 whole D1 offers (he had more than that, btw), is the kind of passe, low-brow crap that I'd hope we could move past when we have basically a whole new team to discuss.

Since you deem it necessary to criticize other conversations, we're all waiting for some amazing threads by you.

Just to be clear, I never ever said any player sucked. The personal attacks against Mike Turner disgust me. And I don't care how Glades "keeps score"-- he can't even count to bogey.

This is a great response. Sort of a men (the wildcat2011) v. boys (VirginiaWildcat) proposition. Nice work.
