Again, this is just a convenience, but it's a convenience I'd like to have. This is 2021, you can't tell me this would be difficult to set up.
Have you considered editing your post by deleting all content and just typing an "x" in the message body?

That's what I do now, of course. One issue is that if you start a post in a certain thread and then decide for whatever reason not to continue with that post, that content (along with the post you originally responded to) remains if you try to respond further downthread. Dealing with the formatting is a pain. It's easier to just post the mess and then immediately delete it.

FWIW, I put together some of the requests posted here (the delete button, the lack of a sig pic option being enabled), as well as some of my thoughts after one month on the new site, and passed them along to my contact at On3.

And it's not done yet?!? It may be time to escalate matters.

@Tom McAndrew, thanks for the due diligence. I won't bring it up again.

This partly illustrates what I'm talking about: I changed my mind about responding to Woodpecker and now can't remove his handle from my new response.

?? If you don't make the post (which it appears you didn't), I'm not following how this is an issue. If I recall correctly, you make most/all of your posts from your SmartPhone. Perhaps that's more of an issue when attempting to post from a SmartPhone.

@Tom McAndrew, thanks for the due diligence. I won't bring it up again.

While I wouldn't like to see a daily complaint, feel free to periodically bring it up (like once a month). In the event that the feature isn't added, it will be a reminder to me to check into. Most of my questions or suggestions (which I pass along) are more focused on the process of moderating, so it helps to be reminded of user frustrations.

If you start a response and decide not to post it, what you type (and the post you intended to respond to) pops up again when you attempt to post a response further down the thread. Makes for editing hassles. Edit: See Woodpeckers signature? I can't get rid of it.

gotcha. I know that happens on a computer if you save the post as a draft but don't post it. You have to clear out the draft post before you can make another response. It may also be the case if you don't save the draft -- I'm just not sure.

On a SmartPhone, it is more cumbersome to clear out things you don't want to post.

Wasn't it pretty much the same situation on the old site?

No doubt you had second thoughts when responding to me when you couldn't determine whether f***wad was hyphenated (it's not). It probably would have been easier to just go with whatever your kneejerk response to me was - chances are good that I wouldn't have understood it either way. In the future, just feel free to respond to me with whatever you want; I'll understand. Then you won't have that annoying box thereafter (which still notified me that my post had been responded to) [Oops, does that still count as ending a sentence in a preposition? I was always taught that "a preposition is something you should never end a preposition with".]

Yes, the exact same problem existed on the old site, but with the delete button I would click post and immediately delete it (there was no delay) and Bob's your uncle.

Since Tom has indicated that he was already on top of this, I think that the only real point of this thread has been to give people the (hopefully mistaken) impression that I'm a whiny *****.

Sorry, but what is posted on McAndrew's board, stays on McAndrew's board.

Perhaps Santa will make your dreams come true by making you a Moderator although he probably isn't fond of your recent Negative Nellie attitude. ;)
I would be a lousy moderator. That isn't just me being negative either. Know thyself! That's what I always say. That and "Nothing in excess." I'd nominate @BobPSU92 for that role. He's positive, fair-minded, and spends so much time here that it wouldn't interfere with his other life duties.

I'm interested in having a button to delete other people's posts. Please consider adding to your list.
