Yes, I can see that it’s not much more than putting sour cream on ****, to steal a phrase from Solzhenitsyn.
If the first sentence in this article is true, "When he was an NFL player, Deion Sanders was fined multiple times for uniform violations" then it is also very peculiar to me.

I’d just be happy to see all players actually use their mouth guards.

I agree with Coach Prime. First, the players look ridiculous in shorts, sort of like when the White Sox wore shorts, it was ridiculous. Second, as someone alluded to, a helmet to the kneecap will not be pretty.

When I played in high school nearly 30 years ago, I remember having to wear that stupid girdle with hip and butt pads and then pants on top of that with heavy thigh and kneepads. Do they wear any of that now? It sure doesn’t look like it.

I go back and forth with Coach Prime. Sometimes I love what he is doing, and others times not so much. But on this issue, I agree with him. Players should wear football pants to the knees, preferably with knee pads (for their own protection). Doesn't seem to much to ask.

100% on your post. I have wondered about this as soon as I started noticing players with no knee protection. I would have never gone without.

Bo Jackson sat out two games at Auburn for a deep thigh. Imagine if he wasn’t wearing thigh pads. It seems ridiculous to not have any protection for a game like this.

Had two knee operations in the 1960's, Medial Miniscus taken out and then MCL stretched and torn, draft board looked at me and said 'get out'. Summer football leagues without even a chance at the team. Today I always wear a brace - not fun. NCAA basketball has a dress code, why not NCAA football - I hate to think about real serious injuries without pads, and the life after playing in college. Or remember Jim Brown recently not being able to walk.
