Having surgery on a torn meniscus. Jeez so sad with how much talent he had/has. It does make you wonder if he stayed more than 1 year in college and developed would his body have gotten stronger and avoided some of these injuries? We'll never know but an interesting thought. As a bulls fan this sucks but we'll see how he responds.

or he could still have had these injuries and not been drafted and not had millions. Do you not think these players get stronger in the NBA?

I simply put it as another way to look at it. I'm not saying that at all. He could wake up and get out of bed wrong and tear an acl. Knee injuries are funny things and happen in random ways sometimes. Just trying to look at the situation in a different way and see what everyone thinks about that. The BIG is trying to get freshman to not play any sports and this is one of the reasons so they have an extra year to develop. I don't agree with that but I think an extra year to develop in college rather than the NBA (where the game is faster and players are worked way more) is a good thing.

Rose could have been one of the best guards of his generation....but those damn knees. I feel bad for him or anyone going through something like this.

Unfortunately, I don't think he'll ever approach being the kind of player he was four years ago. Eventually these injuries catch up to you.

I didn't think he'd ever be the same player again after his last surgery but now I officially think it's over for him. Very sad story, he could have been great. At least he has those millions banked.

Yeah if anything, this is reason to go pro early, not stay in college. But the original ACL tear was a freak injury, not an overuse injury due to an 82 game schedule. And it was his 4th year in the pros so he would have been there anyway. Don't think this has anything to do with staying at the collegiate level.

His playing style was so explosive, that only Emmit Smith's knees could have held up. It was a nice career though. He made enough to be comfortable, and he is admired by many. All in all, he is very fortunate. Time to turn his interests elsewhere: family, travel and charity.

I don't think his NBA days are over altogether....but he'll likely never be a star again. He's still talented enough, IMO, to hang around the league for a few more years.

Sort of the way Grant Hill's career went. Would have been great to see Grant along with Jay Williams and Bobby Hurley have full careers. OFC

That is crazy. It looks like he'll end up being one of those "what might have been" stories.

NO NO NO, the BIG10 is trying to stop MENS BB and football freshmen from playing their first year. They are not doing it to "PROTECT" the player in any way. They are not trying to give time for them to adjust to the school nor time for their bodies to get stronger. They are trying to force out players that are currently driving the stipends, extra food , health insurance and other things that cut into the school's profits.
