Took the wifey to see a band in ATL this weekend at a new club that holds about 600 and is about 95% standing only. Just a few bar stools and high top tables with chairs at the back.
We got there a little early, so my buddy and his wife decide we're going to get down front as close as possible, so he stakes out a place right in front of the fence-like barrier in front of the stage. My wife loves this since she's 5' 2" and would have a hard time seeing over everyone if we stood in the middle or back of the club. The show starts, the band is great and everyone is having a great time. A superfan stands behind me and my buddy's wife, who knows all the words to every song and is singing his heart out at the top of his lungs and is doing it very, very badly. We just laugh it off and don't let his terrible singing keep ups from enjoying the band.
About half way through the show, I feel this elbow in my chest and the owner of the arm starts to push me back like someone battling for position under the basket. Instinctively, I raise my arm to get this person's arm off me and "re-establish" my position. As I look over, this Amazon woman, about 6' 4" tall in her platform heels starts to try and lean in and tries to wedge herself in between me and my wife with her shoulder. She starts pointing at the stage and shouts, "I know him, I know him," and is pointing at one of the band members. I used my elbow and shoulder to push her out from in between us and told her "We were here first, go somewhere else." She takes about a 1/4 step back and is now standing so close to me that her hair is touching my neck and face and I can feel her pressing against my back. I don't say anything, but after about a minute or two of being uncomfortably close to this woman, I take a big step back and lean into her. This forces her back and she gives me a shove on my upper back and disappears into the crowed behind us.
I really didn't want a confrontation with this woman and was glad that she realized she wasn't going to rudely push her way to the front and decided to walk away. I guess you could say she was an enthusiastic fan who was very rude.
