That's a crazy amount of money. Likely to decrease after the appeals process. Still though, I didn't think she would get anywhere near what she was asking for.

Ok, now will the NCAA start looking at UNC?

Does life have to stop before they decide to shovel their cheating under a 'HUGE' rug?

What was the case against the Marriott? Seems like this could happen at any hotel.

It actually was not against Marriott. It was against the management company that owns the Marriott franchise in Nashville

The employees at the local Marriot put her stalker in the room next to her upon his request. So essentially the argument is that the Franchisee assisted the stalker by giving him access to his victim.

The jury apportioned fault to the Franchisee at 49% so they will pay roughly $27 million of the judgment. The stalker is likely judgment proof.

Why do you expect it to decrease after an appeal? I'm a little surprised she didn't get the full $75M. I would be interested see if they release the Jury's findings on damages.

While you will never convince me this ruined her life the money settlement needs to happen so hotels take safety of their guests seriously. To be able to call up and just be placed to whoever you want without any questions is absurd.

No, it didn't ruin her life, but for someone that travels all the time and lives in hotel room after hotel room, it's pretty traumatic. She talked about how she combs every room she's in now for holes, and was humiliated when it went viral. Imagine the whole world being able to see you completely naked in a 4 minute video, basically for the rest of your life.

Honestly, the amount is mainly due to her celebrity and ability to hire the best attorneys out of places like New York State. There's less fortunate people getting mauled and mangled due to poor working conditions, and they end up with nothing after paying attorneys/union fees. Military personel are sent into battle with Mil-spec equipment that local law enforcement won't even use, they never see a thing while losing limbs, vital organs, and life. Their families have to battle the government and VA the rest of their lives.

While I do feel for her, and I'm sure it's traumatic in it's own right, its still what it is. But thats the world we live in.

I have a question. Is there a law that says a Hotel can't put you in a room next to someone if you ask them??? Is there a law that says a Hotel cant tell you if an individual is staying at their Hotel?? Now I know it is probably not good practice to do this for people would quit staying at your Hotel if you did but I am not sure it's against the law. Now the Perve should have the book thrown at him since he was breaking the law.
