Wow! I'm in love. If only my back would allow me to hit them properly and give them justice. Full line of irons here.

Do you know anyone who might be interested in some 1983 vintage Hogan Apex irons and accompanying persimmon woods.

A long story, but a friend/ex-coworker of mine was a very good collegiate golfer and played in amateur tournaments most every weekend.

He either won money $$ or clubs. He gave me the above described set because his garage was already full of golf clubs.

I hit them properly 5% of the time, but when I did you could just tell by the sound and feel

The shafts are a bit stiff and the iron heads are a bit heavy. I remember him telling me he thought they were a “D” swing weight, whatever that means.

Get a quote from Second swing or the PGA guide . Or put them on EBay with a higher ask price or best offer .

Agree w/ Catch. 2nd Swing or another like option. Unless they are in mint condition (which I doubt), no one will really want them. I assume they are the Black Silhouette Apex II's which I have a set of (with Hogan 5 shafts). The only reason I could use them was b/c I was playing a LOT of golf at the time.

When I turned pro, I wound up on Hogan's professional staff and looked forward to a new set of irons every year. The old rep Chuck Ludwig took great care of me back then.

I guess the same company bought Hogan, Macgregor, and Ram at the same time. All 3 have great looking irons. Hogan irons are produced in Henderson, NV. Not sure about the other two.

I recently watched a youtube video w/ a good player comparing those irons w/ today's irons. He picked clubs w/ the same loft to compare. The old Hogan 6 iron and today's 8 iron.

Bottom line, he said the Hogans felt better and if you're really good - have at it. The distances and club head speeds were comparable. He concluded it came down to error. He got away w/ more w/ today's club.

Thanks for the advice. They're not worth anything so I'm going to the range tomorrow to hit them one last time before cutting them up and putting them in Friday's trash.

Give them to Goodwill before you do that. I taught a kid one summer and made him play those same irons (when he wanted a set of Pings). By the end of the summer he could hit the 3 iron in the air and on a green.

He ended up getting a scholy to play at some school in NC. As it turns out he quit the golf team and kicked FG's for the football team and wound up w/ a cup of coffee in the NFL. Jamie Thomas.

Let someone else toss them. Someone might like them and want them.
