OT: Happy Birthday Grigori Perelman, turned down the Fields Medal and the $1M Millennium Prize.

He proved the Poincare Conjecture, an open problem for over a century. He says he turned down the Millennium Prize because he thought another mathematician should have shared the $1M with him. A man of crippling ethics, a man of astounding mathematical talents.

Although I don't agree with all of what he wrote in "Manifolds of positive Ricci curvature with almost maximal volume", and I have my own hypothesis involving the deep structure of three-dimensional objects, I do respect his contributions to geometric analysis and topology.
