Awesome! My wife and I are going for 8 days in early September! We’re doing the ring road (counter clockwise), as well, although it looks like we’ll be spending a bit more time in the southern part of the country than you, and might have a chance to see the Northern Lights instead of the midnight sun.

Have a blast, and I’d love love to hear your tips, tricks, and suggestions afterward.

Bring me back a bottle of Icelandic snaps. I had a bottle I was saving for celebrating retirement but my oldest son drank it when he was in high school when I wasn't looking..........:(

We had a layover there on our way to Europe a while ago.

Been there twice, once for business and once for pleasure. Such a cool place. Sounds like you have a great plan. Only thing I would add is something I did back in 2019. There is a small island on the north shore that is just above the artic circle. You can ride a boat out to it and claim to have been above the AC. That was on my bucket list.

Just get ready to pay unbelievably high prices for everything.

Look for the monument to the Marines landing on the shores of Stykkisholmur to liberate Iceland.

And before anyone gets up in my grill, it's a fictional reference for fans of a certain author. Bonus points for the book title.

You are in for a treat. Iceland is a fascinating country. Hopefully, the exchange rate is more favorable now than when I visited in 2007.

Spent 4 days there in 2011. Not enough time and want to go back. Hiking a glacier is cool if you have never done that before. Also, the Blue Lagoon is the most relaxing place I ever experienced. I did read that there is now a similar place that has hotsprings that overlook the ocean now. We were on a tour and didn't have a chance to drive around ourselves. Enjoy your trip!!

Relayer, is this an escorted tour or did you come up with your own itinerary? Looks like a great trip. Never been to Iceland, but it’s on the bucket list.

We travel on our own, usually no tours. It's always been our travel style. Leaving tomorrow and will try to post when possible.

This place is wild, just an amazing country! Already thinking of retuning next year. Here's a little potpourri of our first 7 days, two to go. It may impossible to do this trip on a budget, but it's been worth every penny! The youtube video is the most powerful waterfall in Europe, so they say. Oh yeah, love the midnight sun and the local beer is pretty damn good! Cheers!

🆒! Very very 🆒! Sometimes even cold!

My Dad spent time in Iceland back in the mid-1950’s when he was in the Air Force. He said he was always treated very well.

Great photos as always. Did you find any unique micro-brews while over there?

Was hiking in Iceland 10 years ago. I came over this one ridge and looked below and there was a golf course...fairways and lava rock. The golf pro was a female who spoke very little English. I watched 3 golfers tee off and one hit the fairway and the other 2 bounced their balls off of the lava rock. I laughed and they joined in in the fun.....funny.
Very nice people , beautiful country and would like to go back.
